Did anyone else's CPS bill double from last month?

Ours exactly doubled.... I've been?pleasantly?surprised since we've lived here with how low our bill has been, esp. considering it includes gas. In Ft. Worth, our electric bill was *much* higher and our home was smaller and newer (supposedly more efficient). Our bill is still much, much lower than it would have been in our old house... it just surprised me that it doubled. Anyone else?

And while we're on the topic... anyone live in a 2 story home where the 2nd floor doesn't get used? Ours won't for another 5-6 months or so... so I keep all the blinds closed and all doors shut. The air is set at 80... should I just turn it off? WDYT? I guess I'll be up there a lil' bit more as I set up the nursery, but not enough to keep it cool & comfortable all the time.

Have a lovely week everyone!! And yes, I know I need a new siggie :(?

  • Ours has been high for awhile now, but staying around the same each month. I think it was so high because the old unit was crap. We haven't gotten a bill since the new one has been put in, but it will be interesting to see if there is a difference.

  • Ours went up by about $60, craziness!
  • Ours went up from about $78 to $124.. I think they increased the rates.. But still it's cheap considering it includes electric, gas, and sewer.

Sadly, it is way cheaper than out electric bill in NY for our 1 bedroom apt

  • Yes, ours went up like 100 bucks.  OMG...I about fell over.

We live in an older 2 story (like 22 yrs. old) and it is about impossible to cool upstairs.  To make things worse, that is where our thermostat is so the air runs a lot in the summer.  We shut doors, close blinds, even close off vents for the rooms we don't use...but our bill is still pure craziness.

Hopefully it will just be this hot all summer and I can plan on the crazy amount I'm being billed by CPS for the next 3 months and that will be that.  God forbid it gets any hotter than it's been....

  • Wow. I just heart attack when I checked mine online right now. It went up $75.
