High Speed internet providers

Does any one use AT&T or any other provider besides comcast?  What do you think of it?  Comcast is too unreliable for us b/c DH works from home.  Without fail... every sunday of a new month b/t 9-12 the service goes out. DH trades the asian markets so that does not work for us.  Any recommendations?  Thanks!

Re: High Speed internet providers

  • We have AT&T and our service is okay. We get booted offline a few times a day, but only for a short period. However, we're the only people we know who have problems with them--everyone else we know who has them loves them.
  • the condo building I work in uses RCN. I am using it to nest right now. I would say we never have a problem with them in the office!
  • neither RCN nor comcast services our condo.  But having used both in the past, I would say that for cable RCN is more stable than Comcast, but DSL (while slower) through AT&T has really never given us a problem with booting.  Are you using your own modem or one of there's?  It could be a modem issue - I used to lose service all the time with comcast bc my modem would need to be reset.  It was the biggest pain in the arse.  They just don't issue great modems.
  • I love AT&T!!  We had comcast before that and had huge problems with them.  Since switching to AT&T our cable and internet went down once and that was becuase some stupid guy trying to fix something on his house cut the wrong line for our entire neighboorhood.  It was back on in 4 hours and we were credited for that time.  We pay less for better internet and same channels than we paid for comcast.
  • I am not sure if you fall within their service area, but check out WOW! Internet Cable & Phone.  They have great pricing and reliable service.  Their website is www.wowway.com.
