Sick of looking for a job!

I am sick of looking for a job... I can't seem to find anything that fits my timeline- everything is too long term/permanant, or is something like scooping ice cream (not that I am above scooping ice cream, I just hoped I would be working with people my age, not high schoolers)

Let me explain- I am in the process of getting my masters in teaching. I am a special ed IA at a school right now and have a week and a half till school is out and I no longer have a job. So I am looking for something new- but will only need a job until November because that is when I begin student teaching. On top of everything, in a month and a half we are moving from sherwood to Clackamas (Happy Valley area). So I am trying to find a job in Clackamas so when we move I will already be working over there. So that makes it hard since we aren't in clackamas. Anyway, just wanted to complain as I sit on hold waiting to talk to another person about a job :) Thanks for letting me vent about my petty problem.

  • Good luck! I'm sure you will find something that suits you.

  • I am in the same boat, and recently started working at The MALL!  I love it, flexible hours, decent wage, and it's really fun and easy work.  Plus I'm an Assistant Manager so it still adds good things to my resume.

Might be an option for you?

  • Have you looked on Craigslist? Sometimes they have short time positions. Also, check in the childcare section if you're at all open to being a nanny. Since school is out all summer, I bet more than a few moms need care for their kids while they are at work.
  • Have you looked at Country Clubs?  They always hire more staff for the summer and early fall.

  • Just an idea for you, but I was an IA and student taught in the N.Clackamas School District. They were way cool with me grading papers at home and putting in longer hours during the day to student teach and IA. It worked for me. Also a summer nanny job would pay great and would end when yo need it to.
  • I can sympathize. I don't have the special job requirements you do, but I recently graduated college and finding a job has been a biotch. I'm starting to get discouraged. I've applied at 3 places, and haven't even gotten in for an interview. My grandma told me about someone she knows in my area who applied for an administrative assistant job and there were 80 applicants! I'm not looking for a job as an AA, but it's discouraging to think that many people are applying for any one position.

  • Hi Kay -

Have you ever considered becoming a Mary Kay Consultant? It's great for when there's low income times. And it's great for working at home. You could work your business now, and then when school starts lower your MK hours to whatever is comfortable for you!

Let me know what you think and I'll give you more info :)

If you'd like to hear more you could call this hotline:1-641-985-5999 ext. 22699# (use your cell phone, as it is an illinois number)

Let me know you called it, tell me what the password is and I'll send you a free lipgloss!!

Thanks and Good Luck! - Sarah
