We visited Nashville last fall and had a blast. Loved the night life down town. We're headed back this year as part of our vacation. DH is wondering what cab prices are like, we'd like to be able to have a few drinks without working. Or can you recommend a decent hotel downtown that would be within walking distance of some of the clubs?

Re: Visiting Nashville
Courtyard Marriott, Hyatt, Sheraton, Doubletree
I don't think any of those are "affordable" though. It's a longer walk, but there's a Holiday Inn Express up Broadway. You can still walk to the lower Broad honky-tonks, etc, and always cab it back home. I don't know the cab price, as I avoid downtown whenever possible, but it can't be more than a $5-$10 ride, because it's literally just a few block away. I drive up and down Broadway because I work downtown, and I often see people walking from there.
For right downtown, same as above. Also, most of the hotels on West End Ave. have shuttles that will go downtown. If we take a cab downtown, it's only about $7 or so (from 31st ave to 5th).
Other hotels on West End (by Vandy):
Holiday Inn Express
Hotel Indigo
Hampton Inn
