Poll: Pros & cons of Oregon
I'm moving to OR in July and I'm very excited! I can't wait for our outdorsy selves to start camping, mt biking, hiking, skiing, etc...I'm not really beachy - the water is still too cold for me Orange County and it's always so crowded I'l rather take a vacation elsewhere.
So I thought it would be great to start out with a poll of what you feel are the pros & cons of Oregon. It's a great way for me to learn about it!
TIA!
Re: Poll: Pros & cons of Oregon
Hi There!
I moved from LA to San Fran to Southern WA. I am very new here, but the biggest pro I have found about the NW is that everyone is so NICE. Everyone is so helpful and customer service is awesome.
I'm sure there are millions of other pros that I can't wait to experience, but that is my initial (1 week old) observation.
GL with the move.
Pros: it's beautiful, the people are friendly and helpful, lots of things to do, close to the beach, mountains, and the desert, Rose Festival, Brewfest!!, good shopping and restaurants, lots of culture, our summers are amazing and wonderful, two big rivers to play on, countless waterfalls and parks...
Cons: the rain...it rains literally every day from October to March, BUT that gives our state the beautiful trees and flowers, so not sure if that is a bad thing really?
Pros: the variety of activities (from concerts to hiking). The weather (nothing extreme, enough rain to make things green, few horribly hot days).
Cons: I can't think of any cons that are specific to Portland. I guess we do have more than our share of passive drivers. I think the state has too may pro-gun enthusiasts and racism. Luckily Portland is a bit isolated from that.
Thanks ladies! I'm so excited to move.
The pros I've heard about are the are friendly people, the outdoor fun: hiking, fishing, mt biking.
The cons: weather
PDX - I love your comment about the passive drivers
I refer to them, not just Oreonians, as left lane lovers. I used to drive a lot between SF and LA. It would drive me nuts.
I think I prefer passive than crazy, cutting me off drivers which is what I get on my 45 minute drive home from Newport Beach to Laguna Niguel. It sucks.
Have I said: I can't wait until July when I'm up there. It's too stressful here.
