Ladies - I'm supposed to be sending out the book club invite, and I WILL do it this week. We had planned to go to an Indian restaurant for dinner and I have to say, I don't really eat indian food (although I'm really looking forward to trying) so I don't know where to take us.
Suggestions?

Re: Indian Restaurants?
Do you have a central location in mind?
If you're mostly east siders, you can do Baba India in Oakley or venture on into Clifton and go to Ambar.
If you're all willing to drive a little further, you can go to Dusmesh over by Cincinnati State.
Honestly? I'd probably go with Dusmesh, the dining area is pretty spacious and it's become one of my favorite indian places in town.
For (IMO) the best indian in town - Ambar India in Clifton
For buffet/variety (great for first timers such as yourself) - New Krishna in Sharonville
Latest Blog Update: Peanut Butter Cookie with Salted Peanut Caramel
Ambar is the best in town - though they own Baba's in Oakley too & Baba's has a buffet which I agree would be great for first timers to try a variety. Prices are comparable between the two.
I haven't tried Dumesh since it changed names, but we were there several times when it was India Palace and it was okay, good. BUT it was a little quieter and might be able to handle a group better. (Ambar & Baba's would definitely require reservations as both stay pretty busy - even on weeknights.)
Dusmesh is excellent, it's still pretty quiet there and is probably a lot busier during the lunch rush rather than dinner. Honestly, I like them better than I do ambar and baba india.
Here's a review (the reviewer is vegetarian, but her hubby is not--read the comments to get some perspective from folks who've been there): http://veggieoption.blogspot.com/2009/04/dusmesh.html
I talked to my coworker who is Indian and he suggested a few places. He suggest perhaps a place that does a buffet for those who aren't too sure about it.
Hi Bombay on Fields Ertel by Kings Toyota
Kanak India at 10040B Montgomery Rd.
Royal Taj at 7711 Beechmont Ave
Tandoor near Montgomery past Bethesda North
*PCOS bio* *Cold Hands, Warm Heart*
We used to love Royal Taj on Beechmont but the last few time we have gotten it, the food was sooooo greasy
New Krishna in Sharonville is excellent!
I may be a little late on this but I would recommend either Ambar in Clifton or Raja India on Tylersville Road.
They're both delicious. We actually had Ambar for lunch : )
Guru India is my favorite Indian place.. they're located off Buttermilk Pike in Crescent Springs, KY .. in the same strip center with Outback Steakhouse.
They are *delicious*
Also... to some of the other posters who said they don't like the spiciness of Indian - that was always my reason for not wanting to try it. But, when I finally did, I got the Chicken Biryani (which is a rice-based dish) and I just get it at a 0 or 1 spicy level and it is SO SO SO good. I mean, it's probably the best rice-based dish I've had in my life aside from Thai fried rice at Mai Thai.
