Pest services...who do you use?

I was outside last night when a man from Orkin stopped by and said that he was offering a neighborhood discount of 40%...so payments for Orkin would be $75 every other month for a year.

My hubs said that we would have to think about it, because honestly...it sounded like that was their normal price and they were acting like it was a big discount.

We do need some sort of pest control.  I have found a few spiders in the house and a couple other buggies.

Re: Pest services...who do you use?

  • We Use Terminex and honestly we still get spiders and stuff not as much but my husband squashed one like a month back & like a hundred of the babies came crawling out everywhere! It was a horrible experience so honestly I don't know if I feel like it's worth the money for those stupid pest control people! I'd rather Bomb my house by myself! lol

I would have died on the spot if hundreds of bebe spiders started running towards me.

  • We use Hulett.  http://bugs.com/

We pay $87 a quarter, and if in between sprays/treatments, if I see anything, they come out free of charge.

Our spiders put me over the edge as well!  The bug man makes a HUGE difference!

That was exactly our LAST STRAW! Been good ever since!  Maybe a spider or a roach every now and then...after all this is FLorida! But I have seen a difference since we hired someone..

Do you know if this is true?  The Orkin guy said that once they get the bugs out of one house, they start running around to the other houses...I thought that the pest control KILLED them, didn't make them run amuk...

  • We use Middleton and its like ~$500 for our 2800 sqft house for a year.  They only come once a year and the stuff they use goes behind the walls.  Its non-toxic to people and pets.  I rarely see bugs except when its close to the year mark.

Yes, I would have died too if I saw all those baby spiders.  Eww.

  • Recio...that is so gross....me no like spiders!

We use the Ortho indoor/outdoor spray and it works great for us. In the old house it was only sprayed like once every 6 months or so and I rarely saw bugs.

I hate the thought of picking up another &70-$100 expense every month so we will be using that stuff again. In fact when we first moved in there was kind of an ant problem. T sprayed it the other night and I didn't see any yesterday.

When we had the pest man out for the initial meet/pitch/sign contract...yes, I believe he mentioned something like that.  But he also put down or sprayed w/stuff for the spiders to carry back to the nest.  He also said spiders look for light for food resources...so we try to keep the outside lights off as much as possible.  And double check your entryways...we ended up replacing some weather stripping and again, saw a difference in less spiders.

  • Plus, aren't you in new contruction?? and all that new buidling in W.G.....when they clear the land the bugs have to find somewhere to go.

  • We spray ourselves. J did it when we first moved in and we haven't seen anything yet, its been about 9 months.
  • Oh God I didn't come off the kitchen counter for 2 hours!  I looked like a mental patient  in shock!  lol I was so freaked out! Eww just thinkin about it makes me shiver! Everytime I see a spider I run before my huband kills it!
  • OMG I had this same thing happen.  We had a big wolf spider on patio and I sprayed it dead and all those hundreds of babies came off its back when the spray hit it.  My husband thought my reaction of running around like I had ants in my pants was one of the funniest things ever and still sneaks up behind me sometimes and tickles my back with all his fingers and says "spiders" while he does it.  He thinks that is hilarious.  I will get him one day.

I am sorry you had to experience this like I did.  It is very creepy.

  • We use Massey.  We don't have bugs.

When we first moved in and the other houses were still under construction, we used to get those wolf spiders with the babies.  I don't like spiders, but they don't bother me like roaches and toads, etc.

  • There are many DIY methods but I think calling a professional exterminator will be the best thing to get rid of spiders. However, if you have the pest control Westport CT services regularly inspect your space you will not have to deal with any of the deadly pest infestation or inconvenience.
