Great places to live in SC?????
We might be moving to the area and I have never been to SC. We need to live within an hour of Richburg, so ANY advice is much appreciated. TIA!!
Re: Great places to live in SC?????
I've heard Rock Hill is a decent place to live if you find the right area.
I would probably choose Charlotte, NC over Columbia, SC.
Those are your two cities to choose from, unless you're willing to live somewhere more rural?
What do you enjoy doing? Do you like fine dining, the arts? Or do you like horseback riding, and farming etc?
Let us know more about your interests and what you like to do in your free time, and maybe we can help you more.
Thank you all for responding! I'm a stay-at-home home with two young children. A family orriented area with LOTS to do would be ideal for us. We love going out to eat and we're always looking for something new to do with our kids. We also want to live in an area with a great school district. We are looking around the Rock Hill or Fort Mill area only because those two areas were suggested so far. What's the deal with Rock Hill? Is it a nice area?
Thanks again!!
If you're leaning toward or open to exploring, Charlotte as an option, I recommend checking out Concord NC. It's a town about 20 minutes NE of Charlotte. You have all the convenience of living near a larger city but without alot of the headache. There's alot to do-especially for a family with children (really of any age). And on top of that you're still only 2-3 hours from the mountains or the beach if you want to get away one weekend!!
I grew up in Rock Hill. It is a great city that has been growing a lot lately. There are plenty of very nice areas in Rock Hill with homes at different price points. My parents presently live in a neighborhood just off of 77 at exit 82. All of the neighborhoods off of Mt. Gallant have nice middle class homes too. Also, the newer homes around the mall are nice.
Rock Hill has one big park (Cherry Park) and a few sports complexes. Most people go to Charlotte to shop and for entertainment. There is always something to do in Charlotte (museums galore, Carowinds in the summer, concerts, etc.). A lot of people just don't want to live in Charlotte for a wide variety of reasons.
School wise (since you have kids) Rock Hill has some really good schools. You just need to ask around to find out which ones are the best. (They've built a lot of schools since I lived there).
good luck!
