Hi ladies! I am new to this board and hoping you would be able to help me out
I got married about two weeks ago and am working on trying to my name change. The problem is I'm not sure what I need marriage certificate wise because the pastor gave us the bottom portion of the certificate, which I'm not sure if I can use that at the SS office or do I need the certified one I have to send to the court for? So confused!!
Thanks in advance!!
Jess

Re: changing name

First, welcome to the board!
I have used the certificate the officiant gave us in order to change everything. I've never sent away to get an "official" copy. I've changed pretty much everything and haven't had any problems.
Hope that helps.
Some places will not even ask for a copy of your marriage certificate sent to them. I think my car insurance and all my credit cards just let me call it in. I've been married a year now and still don't have everything changed
. For places that did want a document faxed to them I sent our marriage certificate that the judge gave to us (ours was really nice and sent us extra noterized copies in the mail in case we needed them).
