babysitting rates

I'm not sure what current rates are these days. I would be babysitting for a 3 yr, 2 yr and 1 mo for $10 per hour. Does this sound resonable or too low? I would be going to thier house and it would only be for a couple hours at a time. Not sure what to think since I'm not a "teenage" babysitter.

Re: babysitting rates

  • We have an adult woman who comes to our home two days a week to babysit our almost two year-old and we pay her $8 per hour.  You're going to have your hands full with three children!  I think that you probably should be paid more than $10 an hour but the reality is that they probably can't afford to pay much more than that.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then success with condoms! Who would ever have guessed.

    This Cluttered Life

  • I agree that $10 seems low especially if you'll have a 1 month old and two toddlers running around. That sounds like a lot of work!
