Event Planning?

I'm thinking of starting an event planning business. Anyone else starting one or has started one?

Re: Event Planning?

  • I was thinking of becoming a wedding planner/photographer once I moved up there. I like photography and enjoy weddings just not sure how creative I am to actually plan one. But...it does sound like fun.

I'm unemployed for the moment so we will see where life takes me. I have asked a couple of couples :) if they would allow me to be a 2nd photographer for free. Just to see how well I would do.

  • event planning... ya actually.

I've thought about it for a while. I'm in school right now for interior design. i'd like to eventually work for myself and be able to work from home.

it does sound like a lot of fun.

i have 2 friends that have their own business's. One in florida, One in Jersey (i think). they're both really successful.

if you need help. let me know.

  • What kind of events (for profit, nonprofit, wedding, etc)? What kind of experience do you have in event planning? I've done a fair amount of event planning and considered a business for a time (ultimately, I wasn't willing to give up my weekends). There are some excellent event planners here in Pdx. You might talk with them to see what business is like, etc. Networking is pretty easy in Portland, in my experience (speaking of pre-DH days). With the right personality and drive, it shouldn't be too hard.
