Help a DC Nestie please

DH and I are going out to San Diego for a wedding in November.  Neither of us have ever been there, so we're going to spend probably about 2 days doing touristy stuff.  (Unfortunately, we cannot spend more time there).  Anyway, we're trying to decide if we need a rental car. The location of the wedding has not yet been decided, so I can't tell you which area in San Diego it's in.  Also, where are some places that you recommend that we visit?  Thanks so much, ladies!

  • You might want to check out La Jolla, the Downtown area (Gaslamp), Balboa Park and Coronado.  And more than likely, you will need a car.

Check out this website for more info on neighborhoods, hotels, etc.:

  • You will definitely want to rent a car. Places to check out: LaJolla Beaches, Hotel Del Coronado, Balboa Park (then again....it does not come close to the National Mall), eat lots of Mexican food and head to Sea Port Village to walk around and take a carriage ride.
  • You'll need a car.

I would go downtown, out to La Jolla or Del Mar, maybe to the Hotel Del Coronado for brunch, and perhaps Balboa Park or the zoo.  Once you know the location of the wedding come back and let us know and we'll help you out more.

  • Yeah, you'll need a car!  San Diego has one of the worst public transportation systems for a city.

I definitely recommend checking out Balboa park.  What's nice there is you can park in one spot and spend the day just walking around checking things out.  From breakfast through sunset you'll have things to do.
