I just had a brilliant idea

OK I know most of us central-AL nesties are readers because the majority of us also post on the NBC board so I was thinking... what if our next gtg was book-related? Maybe do a used book swap, or make bookmarks... idk something fun :)

WDYT? Any biters?

  • I saw that post and thought it was a pretty cool idea.

If it did happen, I don't know if I would participate though

  • I might be game for that!

  • I would totally be interested...and maybe this time I will actually be able to come.

BTW, Amelia Bedelia was one of my favorites as well!!  That, and Harriet the Spy. (Not sure if it was as big down here)

  • Depending on when it is, I might not be in town since we aren't driving in for a while and I have few books I'm willing to part with..lol

and with my luck, it'd be a downgrade from yesterday and nobody would show up Big Smile

    I LOVED HARRIET THE SPY!!!!!!

It inspired me to be the neighborhood spy for a whole month when I was in the 3rd grade. The only thing I learned was that our across the street neighbor that never came outside was mentally ill (looking back now, he probably had alzheimers) and his wife had boarded the front door shut so he couldn't leave. Sad That was enough to keep my nose on my face and out of other people's business for a while!

    Nah, so long as

    1) I'm not dying of bronchitis

    2) DH isn't attempting to lay tile in our kitchen under the effects of cold medicine

    3) finals aren't in the imminent future

I should be able to be at the next one :)

  • Well, since some of us have such a hard time parting with out books (me included) we could all read one and have like a book discussion gtg?  Just throwing that out there.  BTW if you see a story about the band Lynam being stalked by a little crazy local chick, thats me!  I've always loved them and try to make their shows, but I think the fan girl switch was flipped this weekend.  Hence the new pic of me and the lovely, but frightfully skinny Jacob!

I know these guys!  Went to high school with some of them and my parents are friends with their parents!  What a small world!  They are so talented!  I love going to hear them play

  • I'm just kidding..as long as it's on a weekend and I know in advance I would most likely go. As long as there isn't an AU home game to interfere..lol

I have a few books that I'm willing to part with

My friend and her mom are into Lynam..I've never heard them play though

  • Funky, we'll have to go a show together or something.  I'll drive down to Auburn to see them!
  • That would be cool.

Next time you see they're playing here and you can make it let me know

  • Monkeytoez- I like the idea of a book discussion!

or we could do a bookmark swap or something.

I've never heard lynam, but I heart little indie bands that haven't made it big yet Big Smile

Any Corey Smith fans? He's started to make it big but he played some of his first shows at JSU! I looooove him.

First Dance = Crying eeeeeevery time, haha!

  • Love.wins, Lynam is local but they are getting big.  They have like 4 cds out and have toured with some really big names.  They put on a great show and really seem like super nice guys.  I PPH corey smith. He played at city stages this year i think.  (i didn't get to go Sad) Some other great local bands are US Band, FLy By Radio, Velcro Pygmies...I love our local music!
  • I'd be down for a bookmark exchange.  We could do like a Secret Santa sorta deal.
