Changing My Name
Hi -
Does anyone have any helpful tips on how to tackle the whole name changing thing. Does it just require me to go to the DMV with my marriage cert. with me? Does my new husband have to go with me?
Also, does anyone know any websites that are helpful. I always thought that mrandmrs.com was one, but it does not seem to be working.

all of those places have websites that tell you exactly what to do and submit.
you found the passport one confusing? LOL I thought that was the clearest. no need to go to the office to change it. if you already have a passport and jsut need to update the name print out the name change forms, fillt hem out and send all of the correct stuff in. if your passport was ISSUED within the last year you can change it for free. if not you have to submit the paperwork and pay. you will be issued a new passport in either case. http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/fri/ChangeName/ChangeName_851.html

credit cards/bank cards: some of mine required a copy of my marriage license, some didn't. i scanned and saved it in my computer so that i could email it to those who did need it.
i also had to change the deed to my house-not sure if you own or rent, but check about your lease too.
don't forget about title for your car, registration and insurance policies.
