:: straight from my blog:: I need to inform the newsletter coordinator by tomorrow my plans, so I need to know by then what I will be doing!
In college, I was in a sorority. I absolutely loved it. I was actually the Social Chair, responsible for organizing all our social gatherings, including mixers! So, as an alumni, I remain active in our alumni chapter. I'm actually the Secretary of the chapter, and have held the position for a few years now.
Every year, each board member takes turns hosting an event. On average, we have an event every month. Last year I was in charge of preparing the Mardi
Gras / Fat Tuesday Festivities, which was very successful. Well, I have been delegated the November Martini Party, and I am at a loss for ideas! I have decided to offer my home once again, which I have no problem with.
The President suggested offering different ingredients for members to prepare their own drinks. I like the idea of serving a "Sorority-tini." What hordourves to serve? What ingredients are necessary? Please help.
TIA
-- Jackie

Re: Need help party planning
I don't have that many suggestions, but my husband wants a martini party soon, so I was going to post for ideas! We were thinking of having a few different types of martinis and doing it kind of james bond/vegas-y.
maybe you can use sex and the city as an inspiration(since it's a sorority thing?)

This sounds like a great plan! I love the signature drink thing, and having different things on hand for people to mix their own drinks. You could have all the staple alcohols and mixers, mini-martini shakers, a few garnishes, etc. You could choose a few popular martinis (including your sorority-tini) and put the recipes on cute recipe cards and set them around the drink stuff.
As far as hors d'oevres, I'm digging anything in those mini phyllo-dough cups. You can buy them frozen at Publix, and fill them with practically anything. My recent favorite is a mixture of goat, parmesan, and ricotta cheeses, baked in the shells per the package directions, then topped with just a little bit of jalapeno jelly. They're perfect one- or two-bite things.
Love the idea of recipe cards! I can print them in our colors!

Great idea!
Love the idea of the SATC theme!! The recipe cards will be very sucessful. If you want, have them laminated, since different people will be picking them up and they might get wet. I believe Party City has awesome Martini Inspire plates, and napkins. As for food - I make a baked caprese salad, and people love it..it's just bread with melted fresh mozarella and tomato drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. If you want the recipe send me an email or just look it up on the food network website. You can also go to BJs get some cheese, crackers, deli meats, you can also buy hummus with pita chips, spinach dip, things that are easy to make.
Good luck and post pictures!!
I love the SATC idea!!! Sounds like it will be a great party.
I have seen some SATC themed party stuff online. Some of it is cheesy but some of it is cute. i saw it when I was looking for bachelorette party stuff.
