H and i are talking about an anniversary getaway, anyone have any suggestions on where to stay or what to do in minoqua. i havent been there since i was about 12 i am sure it has changed.
thanks
Re: minoqua recs
You know what's sad? My husband grew up there (and I grew up in Eagle River)...and we're both at a loss for suggestions! It's changed so much since we lived there.
I think the PP has some good ideas, though. Sounds like she's been there more recently than I have
Enjoy your anniversary trip! It really is gorgeous up there - I miss it!
We were just up there last week. I haven't stayed at the Pointe, but guessing from other hotels up there, I would think that would be one of the nicest. Or maybe a cabin rental if it's a special trip. Depending on what season you go, you could bike or walk or XC ski the Bearskin Trail.
Some good restaurants:
Otto's, Norwood Pines, The Rusty Putter, Smoky's (Manitowish Waters)
Check out the shops in downtown Minocqua, stop in at Minocqua Fudge and the popcorn shop. A nice coffee place is Hoorhay's. You could catch a flick at the cinema, take in a Min-aqua Bats waterski show, mini golf at Settler's Mill. The zoo is nice, too. Have fun!
For a really nice dinner depending on what you want to spend. Jakobi's I think that's how it's spelled is in Hazelhurst only like 5 mins away and is a very quaint and small restaurant. It''s truly a great meal I hear all these stories from my Grandparents they know the owners That packer players go there and they love it. I can give you directions if you want.
Also for a nice walk there are some trails with some small waterfalls in Cedar Falls it's very peaceful and quiet. I've been thinking about different things for you LOL
There are a lot of nice trails for hiking and whatnot up there. That's usually what we do, or hit up the shops downtown.
The owners of Norwood Pines are good friends of ours so I definitely recommend going there. :-) They have great food. We used to go to a place called Riberside to eat, and Fence lake Lodge.

I would recommend the first weekend in October, if you can. Cranberry Fest in Eagle River is that weekend and its one of my absolute favorite fall things to do. We haven't been since I was pregnant with DD#1, but I'm hoping to talk DH into going next year.
