LA/Hollywood/Universal - recommendations for a Pgh Nestie
Hello Ladies,
I am from Pittsburgh, PA but currently in the hills of Malibu at a retreat center. On Friday I'll be joined by my sister, and we'd like to see what Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Universal City, etc. has to offer. We don't mind touristy. So far on our list we have Grauman's, Rodeo Drive, and the Hollywood sign. What else would you add for a truly touristy experience? Also, is there a "best" way to do all of these things so we don't waste too much time? Any good places to park? Good (cheaper) places to eat? We're staying at the Radisson by the Airport if it matters, and we have a rental car.
Thanks!
Dena

Are you at LAX? You can't really get up to the Hollywood sign. If you go to the Chinese theater, just drive down Sunset a couple miles and look up!
I love the Getty Museum, they have great food there. The Grove and the Farmer's Market is great and you'll be close to the Tar Pits and the LA County Museum.
If I were you I'd hop on one of those double decker tour buses. The one I went to took you to all of those places and provided little trivia details. And it's nice to just sit back and let someone else do the driving so you can focus on the sights. It's touristy as hell, but it's easy.
I went a couple of weekends ago and still haven't gotten around to making a blog post about it.
One caveat - make sure you bring a sunhat, snacks, and water. After five hours of driving around LA (we did the Hollywood tour and the Stars Homes tour which takes you through Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills, and Hollywood) I was exhausted.
Here's the company we used. Buses leave from the Chinese Theater, so you've already knocked that off your list! Other folks gave you some other great recommendations of things to do...
