Hi Ladies -
Hope everyone is having a good week. What's on your mind today?
... I'll go first!
Minnesota State Fair. I was at the fair all day yesterday getting our booths set up for the organization I work for. (I think that one of my best perks is getting to be at state fair as part of my job!) Our state fair starts this coming Thursday and runs through labor day. If you are bored... www.mnstatefair.org
It's a cool place. I think I like it so much because I showed dairy cattle at the fair for many years in 4-H and FFA and even before that, my parents all took us there to see the animals and rides, food etc. Now, I'm just going a bit stir crazy until I get to go back to the fair this weekend.
Re: Happy Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday everyone!!!! I'm soo excited i just signed up for my firt 5k, 10k and half!!! I can't wait to run them!!!
Lisa, your state fair sounds like soo much fun!! I love fairs!! we used to go all the time when i was little adn they are such a blast!!! That's awesome you get to work at one for you job!!! You get to be surrounded by all of those wonderful fair smells!! hehe
mmmm funnel cake and turkey legs!! hehe
Megan - you absolutely rock!! Look at all those races you have plans to run. I hope things keep going well and you stay injury-free as you keep running more and more. Things are back on schedule for my Oct half marathon, so I'm super happy for that. I splurged on some new running clothes and an ipod arm band this weekend. I do feel that I needed some new things, but now I need to try not to spend more money on running gear for awhile:)
Yup - I LOVE state fairs so much. The food has to be one of my favorite parts. I also love getting to talk to fair goers about agriculture. Sometimes I feel like I am fighting a loosing battle because everyone seems to think that farming is bad and we are mean to our animals. Crazyness. We LOVE our animals and our farms, from the small farmer to the larger herds.
I read an organic farming post on Health&Fitness this morning and posted a rather long, yet factual response. I hope nobody freaks out on me. I love the encouragement on H&F, but I HATE that half of everyone seems to think any type of larger farm is bad and being vegan is the correct way to go. Ug.
Sorry for the rant, I just get so frustrated when people post propaganda about "a show I saw one time on farming" and now think that ALL farms are like that Ug.:)
Lisa, sounds like you have a fun job if being a fair is part of it!
Megan, good luck with all those races. You are a much stronger person than I am.
I am looking forward to my first appt on Thursday. I cannot wait to hear the heartbeat and see the baby. But, I'm also nervous. Once I know things are ok I'll relax a bit. I'm also looking forward to Saturday. I'm meeting a couple of friends for lunch, and I'm planning on telling them. Then that night we are going over to another friends house for dinner to celebrate their aniversary and our news.
After such an eventful morning, my mind isn't on work at all. Luckily, it's been a really low key day. Just looking forward to getting home and having dinner with DH. He's gung-ho now about heading out to get paint for the nursery. You know, the room that is still our office and isn't anywhere near ready to be painted? Yeah. I think he's excited ;-)
Lisa...sounds fun! What a cool job perk :-)
Megan...wow, good for you! Good luck training.
Kelly...good luck on Thursday and enjoy your appt. It's such an exciting time.
Canon 50D, Canon 50mm f/1.4, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, Speedlite 430EX II
it's been too long!!!
Kel, congrats!!! I can't believe we have two pregnant ladies on the board now!
Megan, how's the running going? I am trying to get back into it but it's been hard to rehab my knee. Sounds like you have a ton of great races coing up though
Lisa, I LOVE the fair
I also enjoy the food and I like looking at the animals too...although the San Diego County Fair that I went to over the 4th of July weekend was disappointing because there wasn't much stuff to look at
I have been working like a madman out here (well, not for the past week but before then)...like 80-90hrs a week and the whole bit. I've been on call every 4 or 5 nights, depending on which hospital I'm rotating at too. San Diego is sooo nice though and despite the crazy hours I really do love my job. I miss everyone on this board though and hearing how things are going! Hope you all are doing well!!!
