911 Call for my mother

Hi San Antonio Nesties!

I am calling for a bit of help if possible.  I live in Houston and I was hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

Recently my mother was laid off.  She lost her job due to cut backs.  She was working for Lockheed Martin at the air force base as a Configuration Management Specialist

I guess I should really start from the beginning.  My parents moved to San Antonio for this job about two years ago.  One year into it I got married.  Once I got back from my honeymoon my mother found out that she had breast cancer.  She right away had a double mastectomy and had to do chemotherapy.  She finished chemotherapy and is fine now.  She is making a nice recovery.  They are currently living in an apartment wanting to build a house.  Everything was on hold for a new house until my mother got better.  My father does not work b/c he is now disabled and has a few medical issues.

Here is the part where I need help.  I want to help find a head hunter that could help her find a new job.  My mother is also considering changing her career path.  I know she would love to be a cancer councilor and she would be good at it.  We are just worried about the pay.

If anyone can recommend a head hunter or agency that could help us out with finding my mother a new job I would be forever greatful! I do have my mother's resume if anyone would like to see it.  She has a lot of Configuration Management experience and is willing to do a career change.  She has a BS in Mgmt and an Assoc in Math.

Thank you for reading my long story.  I guess a daughter would do anything to help her mother. :)

Re: 911 Call for my mother

  • I really don't have any kinds of agencies i can refer her too but i know there are some great career oppertunities with a company here in town called RackSpace (her degree might get her into a higher position) and i know this company has some great benefits.  Also USAA is another company that is usually hiring for their bank depts... she can find this info. online or even on monster i believe.  I work for the phone company (AT&T) and i know recently they put up postings online for employment she can check the website.  I hope this helps! Good Luck!!!
  • Thank you so much for that bit of advice.   I think that will help too.  She used to work for AT&T  up north when it was Bell Labs.  That sounds like a great prospect!  I'll let you know what happens.
