Rec. favorite things to do in Chicago for an OOTer
I'm a Boston Nestie coming to visit your fair city next week. My friend is gettng married at the Sofitel and DH and I are tacking on a few extra days to sightsee and explore. I've combed through some old posts on the travel board and have these suggestions so far but would love more ideas:
Frank Lloyd Wright homes tour
Architecture boat tour (any recs on a particular company?)
view from John Hancock observatory
Navy Pier (I've been before but DH hasn't and I know it's a tourist trap but it's still fun to check out IMHO)
Millenium Park
Art Institute/Field Museum/Museum of Science & Industry
Aquarium
Zoo
Anything else we should check out? We probably won't have a rental car.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

The Lincoln Park/Old Town area is always nice. (www.oldtownchicago.org) That area has cute stores and I recommend one of the best places for breakfast, Nookies! If you go, go earlier than 10 a.m. Anytime after that, you might have to wait.
Also, the Sears tower now has the glass floor you can walk out on. I haven't been but I heard it's pretty cool.
pick any random storefront theater and see a show. It's entirely possible for the cast to outnumber the audience.

Watch a cubs game at a bar in Wrigleyville

Includes a food court and beer vendors."

Skip the Hancock Observatory and head straight to the lounge for a cocktail instead. ?No admission fee, a relaxing drink, and the women's bathroom has one of the best views in the city! ?
The museums are fantastic - I'm partial to the Field, personally, but the others are great. ?Some (aka DH) consider Wrigley Field to be a museum of sorts and it's definitely worth checking out. ?If you or your DH is a sports fan I believe they offer tours or you can splurge on tickets on the street for a game. ?
The weather here has been wonky lately. Be sure to pack for cooler weather and likely rain. ?Have fun while you're here - even in crappy weather it's my favorite city ever!
There is a really great exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art by Olafur Eliasson.

Also, if you want to check out a great restaurant go to Graham Elliott. The Chef uses local seasonal items for a unique and creative menu. It's my favorite restaurant!

Ditto to drinks in the Hancock, skip the Observatory. Don't pay for the over priced (but not very good) food. .. just do drinks in the lounge and go elsewhere for dinner.
I'd get some deep dish pizza somewhere, but that's a favorite for us. I love Gino's on Ontario or Uno's. I'm not a fan of Lou Malnati's but I know a lot of people are. Grab some Garrett's popcorn. .. a mixed bag of cheese/caramel. lol
See if there's any free music still in Grant Park and you can sit and listen to an orchestra or something while eating take out/drinking a bottle of wine.
