Ok, my H and I currently live in AU. My really good friend and her H live pretty close to Moody. Recently, we met up in Alex City (what we all felt was a good "middle" point) to have dinner. We ended up going to a pretty cool restaurant called Cecil's, which we all really liked.
We plan on doing this again and I was wondering if any of you ladies had any suggestions of any restaurants to eat at along the route of AU to Bham up 280 (think Alex City, Sylacauga, Childersburg, etc). I am looking for something that's not a chain (Ruby Tuesday's, etc) casual dress and reasonably priced (no greater than $20/person for an entree) and something that is open relatively late (read: past 6pm). I'm thinking of a kind of "local flavor" kind of restaurant . They do not have to be directly on 280 at all- we're willing to drive a out of the way a bit.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Re: Restaurant Suggestions
Just an idea... what if you guys met in Clanton on 65 where they have the peach farms? I'm not sure what time they close, but they have a lot of really cute restaurants around there and then you can get awesome homemade ice cream from the peach farm and eat it sitting in big rocking chairs
also, PS- I love that you named your puppies Lily and James. Just sayin.
Hey! I am in Auburn too. I thought about Cecil's before I read your whole post. There's several places on Lake Martin you could try. You could go to Niffers on the Lake or Sinclair's. Both are pretty good. Sinclair's is across from Children's Harbor---from Auburn you take 280 to Alex City and before you get to all the businesses on 280 you take a left on HWY 63. It's about 15 minutes away from 280. Niffers on the Lake is in Dadeville so closer to you than your friends. I've also eaten at a pretty good Mexican place in Alex City but can't remember the name. I think it's near Cecil's.
Blog!
