I got offered several (free) tickets to the Eagles game tonight and I declined because of Vick.
- I foresee there being fights in and around the stadium. Especially PETA/ASPCA v. NAACP
- I think he's a scumbag
- The Eagles organization is stupid beyond all comprehension for signing him.
Re: Eagles
ugh if i was in philly i would have paid you for those tickets izzy!
i don't know, i am an animal lover and all totally (have 2 dogs myself), but i believe he paid his time for the crime that he committed and there is no point in continuing to chastise him for it. if he wasn't a football player, no one would care.
that being said however, i am still not quite sure that his second chance should have been in the NFL. yes, he is a ball player but it is a special privilege to make it to the NFL in the first place. college kids everywhere would die for the spot that he was just handed.
only time will tell, but as all philly fans usually do, the second he does something awesome it will all be forgotten.
I have stayed out of most peoples discussions on this topic and have strong views going both ways about it, but I actually wanted to point out that all but 2 of the 55 dogs rescued from the property have been relocated to either loving families or organizations that now use them for training and therapy dogs. If this case didn't have Vick involved it would not have gotten the publicity it did and those dogs would have been put down. The organization that drove the dogs cross country and picked them up said it themselves. I think an example was made of him and a lot of issues were brought to the surface because of him. People that say he doesn't deserve a second chance because the dogs didn't get one are ignorant to the fact that these stigmatized dogs were given a second chance and are thriving with happy families.
That being said, I have been feeding my dogs these Anti Vick dog bones from a local dog bakery. They give them to us for free and they love them. Also, I will be watching and routing for the Eagles this season.
I didn't see any fights/protests at the game tonight. People were cheering every time he was on the field. As the game progressed, they began cheering we want Vick. It seemed like the people that are pro-vick were heard more there tonight.
Regardless of the Vick situation, they need some work still but I'm glad they pulled out a win. Go Birds!!
