Fish Fry in Washington County
I live in Jackson, anyone have recs for a good fish fry???
Re: Fish Fry in Washington County
I can suggest two totally retro hole-in-the-wall kind of places that DH and I really like, but don't expect great ambience! These are bars with dark fake wood/smoky/have a Pabst kind of places with great fish: the Landmark Inn on Friestadt Rd. (homemade desserts!), and the Lonestar Bar right by St. Boniface Church in G-town. The Lonestar is really rough and kind of smoky, but the fish fry is awesome. DH and I usually get the haddock and also order a side of perch. I can't decide which I like better.
I know people really like Mib's & Viv's Bar in Lannon, but I've never been there. It's also retro and smoky.
Nicer atmosphere but not quite as good of fish--you could try the Copper Dock.
I didn't really care for the fish fry at Fox & Hounds.
In that area (where I used to live) my favorites are:
The Jailhouse (corner of M and Pleasant Valley Rd in Jackson). Their beer batter is really, really good.
Tom's Bar and Grill in Slinger. Its a total hole in the wall, but their fish is awesome!
MJ Steven's (right off Hwy K and Hwy 41)
Wegner's Cedar Lake Inn (old Linden Inn) on Hwy 144 across from big cedar lake. This place just recently opened. Their beer batter is PERFECT. Its light and airy and not greasy at all. Love it.
