Favorite day trips/things to do on weekends

Any ideas of things to do on the weekend - either in Orange County, San Diego or LA? Thanks!

  • eat, hike, go to beaches etc- friends have recommended Santa Monica Pier, Torrey Pines, Griffith Observatory - just looking for some ideas of new things to do/see

  • there's a fun hike at the top of lake avenue in pasadena, and then you could go and have lunch in old town.

  • Gaslamp in SD is always fun. I like to head out to the Peninsula in Newport Beach, lots of little restaurants and shops.
  • I love The Getty.  It's a long drive if you're not in LA proper but so gorgeous there it's worth it.

  • I've only been here a month, but I loved going to The Glendale Galleria/Americana great outdoor shopping, eating etc. 

    H and I also drove to Puerto Nuevo in Mexico it was about a 2 hour drive from OC and we had great Lobster walked around the cute little town  and rode horses on the beach.

    -San Joaquin Wilderness Park

    -Laguna Wilderness Park for hiking
    -OC Museum of Art
    -both Getty's
    -Laguna Beach Art Museum
    -San Juan Capistrano Mission (there are also other missions throughout the area)
    -Amusement parks
    -Farmers Markets

  • I like doing bike rides at the beach a lot =)
