So I'm a committee chair for Jr League this year...the publications committee. We're in charge of getting our our address book and our quarterly newsletters. We are also responsible for securing advertising for our newsletters. Nothing super hard, but a lot of busy-work. I have 3 committee members: 1 is the chair from last year so she feels she doesn't have to do anything this year - including responding to my phone calls and emails, the 2nd was just given to me last week and has yet to respond to any of my phone calls or emails (I found out last night that she was kicked off another committee for the same thing) and the 3rd is a girl who has been gung-ho all along but just sent me an email saying she's decided she doesn't like being delegated to and will just volunteer as she sees fit...uhhh..volunteer as she sees fit? We have deadlines...we have things that need to be done on a very particular schedule...and isn't it sort of the job of the committee chair to delegate to the committee members? I mean, I know what needs to be done and how it needs to get done...what am I missing here?
I should also mention...Jr League is a volunteer organization that woman pay to join...it's not like it's something they're forced into doing...they make a financial committment to do the work they sign up for...
Sorry...rant over...
