Indiana nestie needs help!

Hi-

My husband is considering a job in LA just north of Vicksburg/across the Mississippi.  Is anyone familiar with this area?  It's near Oak Grove/Lake Providence.  I'm having a really hard time finding info on-line and am curious what it's like to live in that part of the country.

 Thanks in advance!

Beth

Re: Indiana nestie needs help!

  • Hi! I am not from that part of MS...  I have been there before!
Sorry, this board is so slow! Maybe someone will help out! Any questions I can answer? I would be glad too!

    Good Luck!

  • No problem- thanks for responding!  I do have another question- are snakes bad down there (meaning are there a lot of them)?  We don't have many snakes in Indiana, or at least we don't see them very often.  For some reason I imagine snakes everywhere in the south b/c it's warmer!
  • Sorry, it has taken me a while to respond... my computers going crazy!
I have 2 so far. Around water they are a little worse, IMO. I do not think they are too bad, though! But since I have lived here my whole life, I am probably use to it.

Have ya'll decided for sure that ya'll will be moving?

  • eeks- 2 is enough for me.  We definitely are moving.  My husband is going to go down this weekend, but it will be a little while before we move everything down (including me) b/c we have to sell our house in Indiana and find one down there.  How is fall/winter down there?  Do you get to see the leaves change colors or get any snow?

Thanks for helping with all my questions- I really appreciate it!

  • Well welcome to the MS board, maybe it will pick up some. This board is so dead, most of the time!
Fall is pretty, with all the leaves changing. Winter is sometimes pretty cold, we had a little snow this past winter, other than that it usually doesn't snow much around here unfortunately!

Hope you enjoy it here... Good Luck with everything! Page me anytime!

  • Vicksburg is a nice small city.  You are close enough to come to Jackson on day trips...(i live in Texas now and commute further to work than the drive from Jackson to Vicksburg)  There is lots of history and charm in Vicksburg

I am not familiar with the LA side of that area.

    Good Luck!

  • I moved to Jackson two years and one day ago (can you tell that I'm counting) from Dallas and the people are absolutely amazing.....so kind and gentle.  However, the quality of life...walking, shopping, the arts, schools, ect. aren't the best-to say the very least.  I very much look forward to getting back to Texas in the next several years.  Good luck to you!
