Enough with the rain!!!

I can't take it anymore -- everything is flooded and mushy and grey :/

On the plus side of being laid off, that means that I don't have to try to retrieve $800+ gauges from dangerous streams and rivers :)

Move along, nothing to see here.....

Re: Enough with the rain!!!

  • NO KIDDING!  We sacked going to the wine fest today because of the rain.  I can just imagine the mud at Military Park.  Boo.

  • Sorry... I LOVE the rain and the gray and the thunderstorms and the cool way the sky looks before it lets loose... I only wish it didn't cause such horrible flooding problems and damage for people. Otherwise, kick a$$!!!
  • It really needs to stop soon.  We got missed by a tornado on Tuesday (touched down in the field next to the house and hit the community we almost bought into last year), 4 inches of rain in 20 minutes on Thursday, and my husband just let me know that Columbus Hospital is being evacuated into other hospitals due to flooding.  His hospital is taking as many patients as possible and he is the only person in his department over night.  He is already scheduled 24 hours this weekend (7P-7A).
  • If only there was a way to have one without the other... on the brighter side it looks like the weather will be hot and sunny so hopefully that will help people trying to dry out and dig out.
  • I like rain too, but not with tornadoes and flooding.

A lot of the headwater and second order streams have receeded, but the third/fourth order streams (i.e. White River) are going to keep rising for a bit as the groundwater makes its way to the little streams which dump into the bigger rivers.

This is the website I used to monitor water levels after rain events for my old job. It helped me decide if it was safe enough to go out into the stream.

Let me know if you need help with interpretations :)http://water.usgs.gov/waterwatch/?m=real&r=in

It looks like the White River gauge by my house isn't working, but you can see the White River down by Centerton is at 17.64' (flood=12') and down in Spencer it is at 27' (flood=14')
