Throwing a going away party...help!

So, my little sis is going to Africa for two years as a missionary, and my mom and I are throwing her a going away party in October. My sis wants the color theme for the party to be the colors of the Madagascar flag, which are red, green and white. My question is, does anyone have any ideas on decorations that would be cute and not Christmasy? I think we can do it, I just fear having this insanely Christmas related room.

I was thinking of focusing mainly on the red and white and using the green as an accent, and doing fun prints, like white with red polka dots/stripes, so that there aren't big blocks of red and green. ??? I also really need centerpiece ideas...any help would be great!

Re: Throwing a going away party...help!

  • Can you use the flag somehow in the centerpieces? I don't know much about Madagascar - maybe do a little research into traditions, food, culture, etc. and try to tie that in.

US Toy is great for parties and stuff. You can get anything you want in any color you want. When ever I need party help I just go there and walk up and down the aisles.

  • I think if you go with a polka dot theme then it won't be too Christmasy.

And I agree with Mrs. Webster, browse some party planning stores from some ideas.
