Do you wear hats in the winter?

My cousin just moved to FL and I was thinking abuot knitting her a hat, but then I wasn't sure if it even got cold enough to need a hat in the winter.

Nope, not really. It might get cold enough once a year for a hat. And you would probably only need it for about a half hour (give or take)! Although, I have seen people wearing scarfs this past year. In the spring, mind you! I just assumed that that was "in" rather than because the people wearing it were cold!

It's never really that cold where you need a hat to stay warm but, we do have plenty of cooler days where you can get away with wearing a fashinable winter. I have worn hats on many occasions just cause I think they are cute.

I agree. Hats are pretty much never needed but there are some chillier days when you can get away with one. I'm not a big hat person but I wear scarves pretty much all winter, mostly because I like them. HTH!

I'd go with a scarf, instead, if you wanted to knit something. I do remember about a week or so of really cold weather (I was directing students to class on the 2nd floor of an open air balcony on top of a hill....brrrrrrr) in January or February. I had a scarf and gloves, but didn't want to mess up my hair with a hat...lol. When I'm not teaching, though, I will wear a hat in chilly weather because they're cute, but she'd certainly get more use out of a scarf.

If she's outdoorsy - maybe. There are cold days a few times a year where you might wear a hat if you were going to spend a few hours outside. But most of the time people are just dashing from their warm car to their warm house.

I would love it if someone knitted me anything, but can you do a whole blanket instead maybe?  I don't get to wear hats here either, but if she takes winter trips she would.

It is usually not cold enough to need one but lots of people wear them because they are cute. I have a few hats and scarfs that I wear in winter but I usually can not wear them the whole day.

Very thoughtful! Depends what part of the state she's in too. Over on the coast, with the air off the ocean it gets chilly for a few weeks in Jan. What about socks? I am not skilled in anything relating to knitting or sewing so don't know if one's more difficult to make than the other. When the AC is on late at night, and our hardwood floors are cold, I like to wear socks throughout the year (except for August, since it's always hot in August!).
