So gross....I am so tired of TN
I have this awful fear of spiders. ?When the garbage can outside became engulfed with spiderwebs, I wouldnt touch it and DH laughed at me!
?It has been like that for a few weeks, until today when I got the hose out and tried to clean the trash can. ?There was a HUGE black widow spider on the underside of the handle. We are talking the side of my thumb. So nasty. It would just have been a matter of time until DH went to grab the garbage and that thing would have bit him!
?I cant wait to move somewhere that has bugs that wont kill you. ??
Re: So gross....I am so tired of TN
Bugs are bad pretty much anywhere you go. Don't ever go to Florida! They are just bugs! Maybe they don't bother me b/c I grew up camping, hiking, fishing, etc...
?
I can't tell you how many spiders live in my barn & around my house. I don't kill them....they eat the flies & mosquitos. There is one huge wolf spider & one writing spider (they are so cool) that drop webs every single night & take them down every morning. They do it like clock work. They don't bother a thing.
?
It's been a wet year, so you will need to watch out for Black Widows. They are territorial, so unless you have a large property you should not see another one.
?
I was bit by one about 1o years ago while working at a camp & had to have a skin graft....but only because I was 1 hour from a hospital.?
Hey, to the lady whose DH thinks he was bitten by a brown recluse - please, if he has not gone to the doctor, please tell him to go immediately!
Black widows and brown recluse bites usually won't kill you, but black widow bites are extremely painful (their venom contains a neurotoxin, which causes pain all over your nervous system). Not everyone will have a bad reaction to a brown recluse bite, but for the people who do - it's nasty. Tell your husband to do a google image search on "brown recluse bite" if he's reluctant to go to the doctor - that should change his mind. This information is courtesy of my former boss, who's fascinated by spiders and knows all kinds of junk about them, and told me all this stuff to convince me that I really DID need to kill that black widow spider in my garage, rather than just moving it outside like my bleeding-heart self wanted to.
