So, when the tornado hit us last weekend, it blew out our MBR window...shattered across the room. I've tried to vacuum several times, but we still see glass shards in the light. I'm super nervous about the kids being in there. Do you know if insurance will likely agree to replacing it? or, who can I call to get some support in it needing to be replaced? (a carpet co? a restoration co?). Or, any experience getting it out. It just seems to keep flipping up when you walk across the room.
On a side note, apparently an adjuster came out this week and we had no clue. Our contractor gave us a quote for about $10K...and our fantastic, ignorant insurance co sent us a check for $800. Yeah, that's gonna work out........ Despite my initial report that included that there was interior damage, they failed to realize that a broken window and a hole in the roof/soffit would probably cause interior issues, not to mention popped drywall and wet insulation. This is gonna be a nightmare. And all hope is lost for trying to sell the house.....now there's empty, foreclosed houses here with trees in roofs, and missing garages. A mess.
Alright I need sleep, and prayers that we get a new insurance adjuster.
Re: Tornado/Insurance/Carpet
I'm not going to have much advice other that recommend to have your adjuster come out or talk to an attorney?
I think a restoration company might be able to give you advice about the glass in the carpet, but then again, I'm not sure since we haven't had to deal with that yet.
Your family will be in our thoughts!!
