What is the ugliest piece of furniture in your home?

Bonus points if you post a picture.

Re: 8/31

  • Good question!

Ignore the mass of cat toys.

Without a doubt, my husband's wagon wheel table wins hands down.  I hated it when I first met him.  I've come to accept it (I cleared off the picture books and candles that were on it).  His grandfather made it out of an actual used wagon wheel.

  • No picture, but I really don't like our couch.  It's really old- a hand-me-down from my grandparents.  It's blue with flowers on it, and since it's so old it has some dirty spots.  I want a new couch sooo bad.  Maybe when we get our $8K tax credit (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) I can convince DH that we need a new one.

  • Here is mine!  I just had to take a picture.

This is in our BONUS ROOM, so at least our 'average' person who drops by doesn't ever make it upstairs to see it haha.

It's hand-me-down furniture from my parents.  It's all Ethan Allen, and they purchased it in 1975.  I have to say, it's held up!  You can see some fading on the sofa cushions, but overall it's in great shape, it's just ugly!!!

There's also a second brown chair that I didn't get in the pic but it's just like the one that is pictured.

  • It would have been our hand me down pink couch, but we tossed that in the move.

Now it's this horrible little couch, leftover from the 50s and later my dorm room.  Pictured it looks okay.   I then tried to recover it (for the third time) with a faux suede and I ruined it.  I also replaced the cushions with what seem to be bricks.

The plan was to use it in the condo and then have it in the bonus area at the new house.  Forget it.  It's going to goodwill as soon as we move.

Imagine it now in tan with the back pillows still blue (I gave up).

  • I guess ours would be our desks. They are like $40 desks from Wlmart that we got in college. Although we are at them all the time, we still haven't upgraded.
  • I'd have to say our China Cabinet. It's just so old looking.  It is DH's mom's (she's deceased) so I doubt it will be going anywhere anytime soon.   I hate that it has these sliding cabinets on the bottom.   So there is no way to child-proof it.   I also worry about Nicholas getting his fingers caught in there.   Right now there are good dishes and other "good" things in there (on the bottom where Nicholas would have access).  As soon as he is mobile, I plan to move all the breakablesin there.

  • Ours is a 1970's dark oak bookcase. I can't wait to get rid of it.
