How was your weekend?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • Hello :-)

My weekend was really laid back.  It turns out the parties I thought I we had to go to are actually next weekend.  I had some cramping Friday and Saturday so we didn't do much.  Sunday I mowed the lawns and weeded and then watched movies on the couch.

  • Friday night I got home from a long home birth and crashed. I slept for 15 hours (making up the 8 I lost while doula-ing). Saturday we went to a Healthy LGBTQ Families Resource Fair which (maybe just becaues we got there at the end of it) was rather disappointing. It was a cute neighborhood we'd consider moving too so we had lunch at a neat upscale coffeeshop and then a friend that lives nearby joined us for a walk around. We all then went to a nearby park on the lake and did the 2.5 mi loop before going to Thai for dinner.

Sunday we hungout at home and packed before taking some boxes to our storage unit. Yay for getting ready to sell this place! Then in the afternoon we went to a going-away bbq for couple friends of ours that are moving to Dallas. In the evening we did laundry and dishes and C edited photos she took from the wedding of some other friends of ours.

  • Friday night we went to a fundraiser at Chic-fil-a for one of the preschools that we were considering (but aren't any longer.)

Saturday we left for Richmond earlier than we expected. We went to the County Fair with some friends from college. The boys had a blast riding rides - but good grief the fair is pricey. We had a great time hanging out with friends. Towards the end of the night, Carter was getting punky and we thought it was because he was tired but when I picked him up, I realized he was burning up. We finished our funnel cake (YUM) and headed out with a stop for a thermometer (101.9 - oops) and Motrin. Carter and I slept like crap since he fever shot up again during the night and he was shivering and then sweating. Poor baby. But by 8am, he seemed fine. I don't know what was wrong?

Sunday we met our friends for breakfast and then went to a village showing want the English settlement was like in 1611 - they have people reenacting the various parts. The kids slept all the way home (YAY!) and then we stopped for lunch and then to a new playground for a treat as part of our potty training efforts. We were all exhausted last night. L and I tried to watch Doubt, but I was out by 9:30.

  • We had a very lazy weekend.

LMC had her very first playdate and it was pretty amusing. We had some fun trying out the cloth diapers we got from a friend and distracted ourselves from thinking about our upcoming court date.  It was too hot to do much so we just did our best to relax and keep cool.

  • on friday evening i baked a cake and got a head start on decorating it for my friend's graduation party--she just got her master's degree--and saturday morning i finished decorating it. i have some pictures up on my blog if you want to check it out.

we had the hospital tour saturday afternoon (and omg it was so awesome, i loved it!), then headed home to grab the cake and go to the party.

sunday we finished prepping our bedroom for painting and then primed. we took the rest of the afternoon to just hang out and decided to go to pei wei for dinner instead of cooking. we also made a plan for the rest of this week and into the weekend in terms of what we want to get done and when. pretty productive!

  • 2brides - I loved Doubt!

Saturday I had to work. Bah. E puttered around the house making it pretty. Saturday night we took a friend out for dinner and drinks b/c her boyfriend bailed on her during her b-day weekend. We played the role of lesbians comforting the straight girl who is convinced that becoming a lesbian would solve her relationships problems. I haven't gotten tipsy in ages, so that was fun.

Sunday we finally finished moving out of our old place and cleaning everything--Hurrah! The walkthrough was possibly the easiest ever, and our landlord just wrote us a check for the deposit on the spot. It's great to have that done, but also bittersweet.

  • We had a great weekend, although it ended way to quickly.

On Friday, N made some yummy cupcakes and we just relaxed in front of the tv.

Saturday was spent running errands and then having my cousin over for dinner and a sleep over. We played guitar hero into the wee early morning hours.

Sunday got off to a rough start when we all woke up to a really loud bang and then lots of glass shattering. I was so scared that someone was breaking in until I got a look at the clock and realized it was 5:30am. I told N that I didn't think 5:30 was "a suitable time for a break in" (which we later laughed and laughed about), and we finally got the courage to investigate downstairs. Turn out that one of the floating shelves in our living room decided that it didn't want to float anymore. So 5:30-7:30 am (yikes!) was spent trying to get all the glass off the wood floors, shag area rug, couches, etc. It was not fun. The day ended pretty well with a bbq with some friends that we hadn't seen in awhile.

  • Unfortunately, on Saturday we woke up to C having more bleeding?automatic bed rest. This is some scary stuff (thankfully we had an appointment scheduled for today). I thought I would make her some Sweet Potato waffles?she was only able to eat one.

I finally made it to Whole Foods on Saturday for their organic delights, plus went to the (less-expensive) grocery store and drugstore. I did my normal house cleaning, but did not work on my dissertation. Poor C was a little bored in the room.

On Sunday, I had to run to Church (I am the Worship Coordinator) to make sure everything was in order, but I did not stay for the Service?I don?t like to leave C and the twins for too long. I picked C up a bagel from Starbucks and grabbed my favorite caramel macchiatto (decaf with skim milk). After a short breakfast I had to kick C out of our room for a bit?it needed a thorough cleaning and I did not want her to breathe in any dust or anything. I cooked, mowed, and washed dishes?

We both had a hard time sleeping because of the appointment scheduled for today, but thankfully GREAT news, the babies look great (perfect size and nice strong heartbeats). We cried so HARD?those were the best tears I ever cried. We went for a celebratory brunch, rested at home for a bit, and then C (unfortunately) went in to work.

  • As I was typing that, my daughter called?she is getting deployed. She leaves for training in 10 days, coming home for a short visit, then taking off. She will be driving a truck between Iraq and Afghanistan delivering supplies?time to stop typing.
