teaching interview

I have an interview this week for a 3rd grade teaching position in Wethersfield, CT.  I taught 3rd grade in Ma and I'm not sure how different it would be here.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Re: teaching interview

  • hello, I don't have any advice but want to wish you luck for your big interview.  Wethersfield is a great town.  Third grade is perfect too!!! I hope you get the job. Keep us posted!
  • Hi, I teach sp.ed Kindergarten so I am not much help with 3rd grade....but you should read up on this site   http://www.sde.ct.gov/sde/site/default.asp

Look up the CMT (Connecticut Mastery Test) strands in Reading and Math for grade 3.    3rd grade is the first year the CMT's are taken and they are a pretty big deal here.

I taught in FL and my first interview here in CT and they asked me to write a paragraph on some CMT strand.  I was so mortified I had to ask "What are the CMT's?"

Other than that you have experience on your side!

    Good Luck!!

  • I taught third for 3.5 years before being home with my boys.  DIfferentiation, remediation, guided reading, enrichment are huge for third grade.  Good luck!
  • Good luck!  I'm searching for a teaching job right now too, so I know how hard it is!
