  • I am beyond excited!  This is our first holiday in the house - we closed on July 1st and well we really couldn't decorate for Labor Day (although I would have if I could!!!)  lol  Can't wait to decorate!!!
When life hands you a bunch of lemons, make lemonade-call me over and I'll bring the tequila and salt!
  • DH and I were just talking about fall decorating this weekend. We don't celebrate Halloween, so we tend to stick to the more traditional fall decor. Fall also happens to me by favorite season, so I tend to "up the ante" a little with the decorations.

For outdoor decor I usually set up a couple haystacks, a basket of the mini pumpkins, squash, and corn, a scarecrow, a little sign that says "fall harvest" and of course, a football on the front porch. Oh, and a fall wreath for the front door.

Inside the house, we set up a similar bowl of the mini pumpkins, squash and corn on the dining room table as a centerpiece. I also go in the backyard and pick up a few pine cones and "fall leaves" (the red, orange, and yellow ones) and put them in a glass hurricane vase that I'll probably put in the foyer. My mantle decor changes too (although this will be the first time we do it for fall), I'm guessing I'll get a couple dry branches from my willow tree and put them in a vase on top of the mantle. Add to that my "give thanks" letters and this picture my husband took of our backyard when we first moved in of all the trees with the gorgeous colors of fall. I keep it pretty simple for the kitchen, usually just changing out the kitchen towels to match the season.

  • That is so cute with the picture of the backyard! I don't tend to do a big deal out of halloween, but for some reason i have always loved all the spooky stuff. we went to home goods and bought a little black convertible caddy that has a snow globe in the seating area of the car with a skeleton couple in it. we also got black placemats that have spiderwebs and a bottle that says poison. I still want to add some gargoyles in the porch with some crows and skulls.

Did you ladies see the pottery barn fall catalog with the picture on the back of a proch decorated for fall full pf pumpkins? I fell in love with the and also started buying the stuff to copy it lol

  • I cannot wait to decorate!  It sucks though that we are in a condo, no porch.  I think it would be weird if I put some pumpkins and a scarecrow in the hallway haha. My decor will be limited to the surfaces inside. :)

I love all of Martha Stewart's Halloween ideas too.  She has some awesome carving ideas and some really cool window displays.

  • We also have a condo, so we're not big on decorating since there's not much space.  I do like to put some fall touches around the house, like a fall wreath on the door, a dining table centerpiece, etc.  I usually decorate more if we are having a dinner.  In that case, I'll get holiday themed tableware.

However, I used to decorate my classroom for every holiday.  There I would go ALL OUT.  I don't have my own classroom this year, just an office I rarely use.  So, I'm really going to miss the holiday decorating.  Maybe, I'll put more effort into our place now that I don't have the classroom =(
