Help for a NorCal Nestie please :)
DH and I will drive down to Rosarito Beach, Mexico and we'll be there for a week, leaving on a Saturday. ?There is a concert in Oceanside on the pier that Saturday evening and a friend of ours is playing, so we wanted to go. ?Apparently they should be going on about 7, but I don't know how long it goes. ?What would be your recommendation for lodging/driving after the show? ?If Oceanside is the best place to stay for convenience, we could do that, but I don't think we'd mind driving an hour or two north to get a jump on our drive for Sunday. ?Any towns/cities I should look into? ?It would really just be a place for the night and we'd be leaving the next morning. ?Should I post this on the LA board as well? ?Thanks for the help!

Well if you really want to drive but you dont want to tackle LA, look for hotels in the Anaheim and Irvine area. Since it looks like you will need a room on a saturday night, you might want to get something booked now since its summer and rooms tend to be booked on saturdays (well in the Anaheim resort area). If you dont want to go that far north, check out San Clemente. Its about 15-20 minutes north of Oceanside on the north end of Camp Pendleton.
Otherwise, there are a ton of cheap hotels near the beach in Oceanside and there is a combination of stuff just south of O-side in Carlsbad.
As for the concert, unless they are the headliners, they will probably only be on stage for about 45 minutes. So if all goes well, you should be out of there by 8pm. That would put you into San Clemente by 8:30pm, Anaheim by 9pm, and LA by 10pm.
