Rain.....

Hope everyone's houses are staying dry. We have a pond in our front yard but so far the the inside of the house is dry.

Re: Rain.....

  • We're ok- pond in the front yard and thankfully our sump pump hasn't given up in protest! We got lucky- not so much for our neighbors who have water in the basement AND a pond in the backyard up to their patio.

  • Unfortunately, we didn't fare as well.  We did get some water in our basement, but it definitely could have been worse.  What really upsets me is we just closed on our house and this weekend we were supposed to do all the grading, etc. to prevent flooding.  Oh well!
  • I'm down in Grant county where it floods so easily but luckily I live on a big hill (unless, of course, the tornado that was spotted came through last night but it didn't).  We had a huge tree fall inches from our bedroom.  I'm not sure how it missed but DH watched it fall; it started falling toward our house and hit the powerline.  The powerline didn't break but it kind of guided it to the ground and avoided our house.  Thank God...we're working on fixing it up to sell.  Some people really have it bad!  My uncle lost a barn full of calves because in less than an hour the calf barn got 3 feet of water and he couldn't get them out.  My dad lost a field of corn.  It's really sad!

  • we were lucky, no flooding, but our basement smells so bad and i'm had a terrible time finding a dehumidifier. they're sold out everywhere...?
  • We faired better than most. We have some water in our basement, mainly saturating the carpet and padding.  So we've torn that all up and have 2 dehumidifiers and a fan running 24/7 to try and dry it out. Hopefully it won't get moldy, or we'll have to tear out the drywall and cabinetry down there, too.  Our brand-new stove got zapped by the power outage though. Fortunately it's under warranty, so they're coming out today to look at it.

But my SIL and sister both had several inches of standing water in their basement. Ugh.

  • We got away luck our back yard flooded but my DH's Grandparents live in Oak Creek and the Creek by their house flooded and they were on the news yesterday because his grandpa didn't want to leave the house LOL. But the water was a foot from their basement ceiling. So they were pumping the water out yesterday and today. Hopefully it won't go back up if it rains like it is suppose to on Thursday.
