Parents / ILs on FB (Poll)

This is obviously a self-serving post.

1. Are your parents / ILs on Facebook?

2. If so, do you block them from seeing or limiting access to your posts / pictures / anything?

3. Do they comment on your FB postings when they see you?

4. How often do you think they're talking about you behind your back regarding things you've posted on FB?

5. Do you think people notice that you've limited their access to your profile?

Re: Parents / ILs on FB (Poll)

  • 1. Are your parents / ILs on Facebook? No (but BIL, SIL etc are)

    2. If so, do you block them from seeing or limiting access to your posts / pictures / anything? No limit to pictures but they can't see statuses

    3. Do they comment on your FB postings when they see you? Yes (hence why I started the status ban on ILs)

    4. How often do you think they're talking about you behind your back regarding things you've posted on FB? eh who know's some of them can be catty

    5. Do you think people notice that you've limited their access to your profile?  Nah they still see my wall etc.

  • 1. Are your parents / ILs on Facebook?
My mom is. The only IL on there is my BIL and he DGAF.2. If so, do you block them from seeing or limiting access to your posts / pictures / anything?
No, but I would consider blocking my mom from some pictures. Say, if I got a tattoo, that's an album I would probably block her from. 3. Do they comment on your FB postings when they see you?
My mom comments on my status occasionally. 4. How often do you think they're talking about you behind your back regarding things you've posted on FB?
She sometimes forwards stuff from my FB on to other family members, which bugs the crap out of me. 5. Do you think people notice that you've limited their access to your profile?
No, I don't. Esp. if you have it blocked AS SOON as you add them. They never know what they are missing. Also, esp. with older users of fb. Typically, they hardly know how to use it in the first place, they generally don't realize that you can hide/block things from them.

Sometimes. 4. How often do you think they're talking about you behind your back regarding things you've posted on FB?
I have no idea 5. Do you think people notice that you've limited their access to your profile?
I think if you limit access after they have had it for a while they might notice.

  • My SIL is on FB, but neither one of us has sent the other a friend request.

My parents can barely check their e-mail, so FB is way beyond their comprehension.

  • Neither my mom nor my ILs are on Facebook, but I'm friends with my brother, BILs and many of H's cousins. I did, however, ignore a friend request from his aunt. Nothing good would have come from it. :/

  • 1) Yes, my parents, SIL's, grandparents, etc are on FB

    2) No, I don't block them.  Although I probably should block my grandparents before they have a heart attack with all the swearing, etc.

    3) Yes, they comment

    4) I doubt they talk about me behind my back.  I lead a very boring life.  Not much to talk about.  lol

    5) I think they would notice if I limited them now, but not if I did it right from the start as YL said.

Nope. Probably because I blocked them. I also hide one of my SILs she's sooo EMO. 4. How often do you think they're talking about you behind your back regarding things you've posted on FB?
I have no idea 5. Do you think people notice that you've limited their access to your profile?
You know what? Nah- they probably don't but I'm friends with my boss on FB and he's made comments on my statuses several times. I finally blocked him from seeing my tagged photos and statuses. He might notice. Oh well dude.

If they see something "controversial" in my status update, in all likelihood I've said something similar in front of them.

    5. Do you think people notice that you've limited their access to your profile? Probably. I have some CWs that are on limited access, but no one's called me out on it.
