hotwire.com

Hello Ladies,

Anyone book through hotwire.com?  any pros/cons?

We're just looking to book a hotel room for one night in chicago or suburbs for our anniversary and want to save some money, but a little hesitant on booking without knowing which hotel we'll get.

TIA

Re: hotwire.com

  • We've never booked through Hotwire because of the same reasons you're hesitant to book. We prefer to know where we're staying. We've booked trips through travelocity.com & hotels.com. Both were easy to do and relatively cheap (depends on where you want to go). I suggest another travel website--with hotwire, you could end up with a great deal but you might end up in a sketchy neighborhood. Depending on where you want to go or what you want to do, I suggest staying near Midway Airport. There's a hotel complex nearby with decent rates because it's not the Loop, and most of the hotels have a trolley or drop-off service to the Orange Line Midway stop, which will take you directly into the Loop.
  • We've used hotwire with good results.  There is a site... www.betterbidding.com that is very helpful in identifying what the hotwire and priceline hotels are before you bid.
  • i LOVE hotwire, and have never been disappointed.   I think its an even better deal in a place like Chicago, where all of the 3 and 4 star hotels are great, and essentially all the same, if you are within the right ares (streeterville, mag mile, wacker dr., etc).   all of the hotels in those areas are clean, nice, and close to everything you want to do.    and the prices are always better than you find on travelocity and the other sites.

    Because we're fancy like that.

  • Anytime I need to book a hotel but do not need a very specific location, I book through Hotwire.  I love them and the prices are great.  I have never been disappointed.
  • I love hotwire.  We use it all the time when we travel, and we always get Hyatts, Intercontinental, and for 3 stars we get Holiday Inn.  I have yet to be disappointed.
