Infant/child CPR classes?

Does anyone know where I can take them. I know, should have done this already . . . I checked the local red cross, but could only find it combined with adult.

I had a incredibly scary experience yesterday. L choked on a little piece of plastic, we think it was from the dish being installed over the weekend. I'm still upset, I cant believe I let it happen. He was on the floor playing and I saw he was chewing on something. I tried to get it out but I think it just went in further. He was gagging, his eyes were watering like crazy, nose running, and then he threw up saliva all over me. Did I mention that i was terrified?? After a call to my mom, some back thrusts, and a call to 911 I got it out. Just as the dispatcher picked up it came out. Yesterday was not good. I am SO glad I was in the room.

We took ours through SACH. I'm sure your local hospital offers them too.

BTW, so glad (relieved) that L is okay. That's scary. I am not looking forward to the everything-goes-in-the-mouth phase!

Omg, Becki. That sounds terrifying. Sounds like you handled it fantastically though. Good job Mom! So glad to hear that Luke is ok.

I don't think Kaiser has these. H has been buggin me to take it too. He's already certified. Just never got around to it.

very scary but glad he is ok.  not sure where you can find ONLY child/infant classes....but like above i would try some hospitals if not take one of the full courses and just focus on the infant/child part....  better then nothing.

 The "Infant CPR" class that we took covered all ages, not just infants. For my teaching credential, I took a regular class that did not address infants, so you want to make sure your class does. GL!

Just found a class at Riverside Community, next one is on the 15th. A and I really need to do it! This was such a huge reminder that we need to be prepared.

YES!!! You can never be too prepared for these emergencies.

I'm glad that L is A-ok.  Don't beat yourself up, it could've happened to anyone.  The class is a good idea, I may look into taking one for infants too.  As a teacher I had to take the child cpr class but that was a few years ago.  Parents.com has a cpr tutoral/video that you can watch while you are waiting for the class.

Looks like you found a class. I think everyone should take a CPR class, just because what if something happened to your H or something. Most hospitals offer the class, and it's only about 6-8 hours to get certified. I'm glad L is ok Becki, I bet you were scared. It's awful to be in a like that  situation and not know what to do.
