Poll: laptop computer size

If you have a laptop, what size screen do you have?

Do you like the size?

If you bought a new one today, would you get the same size?

I'm going to be getting a MacBook Pro in the next few weeks, but I can't decide if I want the 13- or the 15-inch.  I definitely don't want the 17-inch....too big for me.  I want to be able to carry it around easily (to work, the coffee shop, etc.), so I am tempted to go smaller for portabililty reasons.  But I don't want it TOO small.  I do like the bigger screen on the 15-inch.

Help!  I can't decide!

Re: Poll: laptop computer size

  • I have the 15 inch size.  LOVE it.  I used to have the 17 and it was WAY too big for me.  Let me clarify that, it was too heavy!  :)

  • I ahve a 13 inch mac book and love the size. I like how small it is. I used to ahve the old 12 size so just the extra inch seems so much bigger to me. It is very portable and fits in sleeve in most of of business bags.
  • I have the 15" MacBook Pro and I like it.  My H has the 13" and he prefers that because it's smaller and not as heavy.

  • I have a 17" laptop for design stuff.  It's a tank though, really heavy.

  • I have a 15 inch.. also a MacBook.  I really like that size and don't think I would want to go any smaller.

  • My laptop for work is a 17" behemoth.  It is such a pain!  At home, I have an HP Mini (about 10") and I love love love it.  It weighs 3lbs and I can fit it in my purse.  The keyboard is just below full-size, which is fine for me because I have tiny hands.

It has no CD drive, and that's the only thing I miss having.  The hard drive is small but we keep all of our files on a wireless server, so I can access everything from the mini anyway.

Since I mostly use it for email, web surfing (and Nesting), and iTunes it's perfect for me.

  • I actually have a 12.1" and I love it for a laptop =) I have my desktop for things I need to do with more workspace (ie. video editing, etc) but the 12.1" suits me just fine for what I need in a laptop =) The size is perfect for traveling.

  • I have the 15 inch MacBook.  Whenever I travel with it, I slip it into a sleeve & it works just fine with all my bags.  For me, it is just the right size...I think 13 would be too small & 17 too big.

     Hope this helps!

  • I have a 17 inch and at the time wanted a bigger screen.  Now that the way I use it has changed, I want a smaller, netbook.
  • i have a 14" widescreen, which is the perfect size for me.  DH's 15" widescreen is too big IMO to carry around, and a 17" really is a tank.  (my work laptop is a regular 15", and i don't have any issues with that size - it's a lot smaller than the widescreen.  i don't use macs, but i think they're all widescreen now, right?)  we have a netbook too, which i can't use at all b/c it kills my wrists to type on.  13" should be okay (i've never used one), but if you have wrist issues, definitely try out the keyboard first!  sorry that's not super helpful Stick out tongue

  • I probably won't be any help - I have a 17" HP (I wanted a full keypad, and you can't get those in the smaller sizes) and I LOVE IT. I'd buy 17" again in a heartbeat - I guess I don't see it as a tank! Stick out tongue
  • i have a jurassic 15" toshiba (about 5 yrs old).  i do like the size.

  • We have a full size Dell laptop for a few yrs and got a 10.5 in Acer a few months ago.  We both love the Acer for its size and portability.  Perfect for doing the everyday things.
  • I have a 13" MacBook and love the size, although when carrying it in my laptop bag I find it a *bit* heavy.  MH has the 15" MBP and loves it, I agree that the 17" is too big.  Yes Good choice on a Mac!
