South Florida Nestie visiting Myrtle Beach
Hello Ladies!! DH and I will be visiting his best friend for a couple of days (9/18-9/22). Can you please give me some recommendations (i.e. attractions, must-sees/visit, restaurants, etc.) - I will greatly appreciate it!!!
TIA!
Re: South Florida Nestie visiting Myrtle Beach
For shopping Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach are nice places (outdoor). For evening entertainment you can try the Alabama Theatre and House of Blues at Barefoot Landing or several of the nightclubs at Broadway at the Beach.
My favorite place for dinner is a little old restaurant called The Chesapeake House. My family and I always go there when we're at the beach. It's not changed at all since the 80's really, so the inside is pretty outdated, but the food is always really good, the staff is super friendly, and the have a pond out back with aligators and turtles. After dinner we always go outside and feed them our left-over hushpuppies.
Is there anything you were looking for in particular? When I was a kid we went every year, then last year we went for the first time in ages. We're going back this weekend (it's my dad's brithday and that's what he wanted, was a trip to the Chesapeake house for his birthday haha.) Only my parents would drive 10 hours to eat at an out-dated place on a swamp! I can't disagree with them though, the food is always terrific!
Well, if the food is good, and it's a place that brings back memories, I think I will drive as well! happy birthday to your daddy!
I would like to visit a nice, famous restaurant...and do more outdoors thing, I found a company that those a dolphin jet ski tour, and it sounds interesting... super cool things that you feel that you can do there. We have been on jet ski tours, but never dolphin watching... I think that could be so cool.
Any other MUST do things that you can think of? Or a good show that is playing? I have never had southern food... that will be good, any recommendations?
Hmm the beach is mostly seafood. There are a LOT of buffets there. (It's a largely redneck sort of place.)
This is my best guess as to what one of the most "famous" places to eat would be: http://www.originalbenjamins.com/ Maybe someone more familiar with the area can have another recommendation though.
When I was a kid the must do thing was to go to the Pavilion amusement park, but it closed and condos were built in its place. If you want an amusement park experience, you may want to try here: http://www.freestylemusicpark.com/ It opened about a year ago as Hard Rock Amusement Park, but it's already been sold.
For entertainment, there's always TONS of put put golf and go carting places. There are also several water parks. Myrtle Waves comes to mind as one that was a good one when I was a kid anyway.
