How to Tailgate? Need help.

Ok girls I need your help. I've never been to a football game, and much less a tailgate party. I'm helping my company in planning this event.

So this is what I know/have for now:

1. Tickets for all guest
2. Game starts at 4, made tailgate start at 12, and will show up at 10 to setup and reserve parking spaces. There will be about 60 people going so figured about 5-6 spaces are ok
3. Not sure about food. Thinking about bar b que, but that might be kind of complicated. My budget is around $600 for all additional items including drinks. Perhaps could do those large subs with wings and chips, get cookies, water, soda, and of course beer.
4. Will have 4 tents, but everyone will have to bring their own fold up chair
5. Will have two large coolers
6. will be bringing a football, cigars, dominoes, and a domino table and a radio

Other than that not sure. Feel like I'm missing something to make this a memorable and kick ass tailgate party. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have the basics for a good tailgate As far as food, hot dugs and burgers are a pretty cheap alternative too. I know you can buy in bulk at Costco or Sam's Club...might be worth looking into. Have fun!!!

CHICKEN WINGS!!! dont forget the chicken wings!!!   You can order them in advance  somewhere ( hooters, chillis, flannigans, pretty much anywhere that sells wings) once u pick them up and set up at the parking spaces you can set up sternos to keep them warm.  Maybe you can order burger patties already somewhere (preferbly from the same place as the wings) and do the same thing.  Just buy the buns and condiments seprately!

Take more than one football, also maybe 2 -3 frisbees for those that are not fond of playing catch with a football.

You pretty much got it all down packed though!

Oh wow!! The ordering just the patty idea is genious!! I would have never thought of that. Wonder where I could do that from? Should I buy the cheap sternos or rent them? and the frisbee is a great idea too. thanks!!!

Oh I would never forget the beer. If I didn't bring this, I think I would be stoned to death. lmao

The box lunches are a good idea. I will have to look into that. I know Jimmy Johns do some great one's.

Any suggestions on where to get the wings from?

btw did DJ tell you I saw him in FIU? I was in class and saw him pass by. I got up in the middle of class to go say hi to him. lmao My teacher thought that was kind of odd, but didn't even care that I left. I must have seemed like a crazy girl to DJ, I was like oh I'm Johanna from the Nest. lol He was like yeah I remember you, then we started talking about school and you of course. lol He was telling me about Georgia and I told him he wasn't allowed to take you away from us lol he just laughed. Well that was about it, had to go back to class. btw can you ask him if he by any chance still has any questions answered saved from cooking class 1? thanks

I never thought I would say this, but "I FREAKIN LOVE SCHOOL!!!!!!"

Everything just makes sense. For the first time in my life I finally feel like I'm in my element. If I didn't have to work I would be in school the whole day every day. All my teachers are great and not only can I understand the school work, I get excited by it and want to take on more. I show up at least an hour before class and try to learn as much as I can about the kitchen and other teachers/ students. I just love it, I finally found a place I fit it and I know I will excel at.

you can get the sternos sets for real cheap at party city.  I am sure if you ask any of these restaurants if they would sell you trays of burger patties they can arrange something.  I think even fast food places, like BK.

that is awesome so glad that you are loving it. To be in the industry you really need to love it. I know that the program has great teachers as well so it will be awesome.

YAY! I am super excited to go now  

 As far as food, I think grilling the hamburgers and hot dogs onsite is the best idea, that's part of the fun and also takes time since we will be there for so long  

I would definitely order those wings though - yum!  

I am bringing some baked chips and turkey dogs for myself!

They will come and grill the hotdog and hamburgers/cheesburgers for us. Woohoo!! It's really cheap and no one has to worry about slaving over the barque.

Now to find some yummy wings.

I'm also including an activity tent. There adults will play dominos, and kids will have a table where they will make two large banners one for each team. I will bring paint and markers and stuff.

Also taking face paint so people can get into the spirit.

My husband isn't in to sports. He's a big nerd He loves the Discovery Channel, Military Channel, National Geo. etc.

and no Manny didn't plan this AT ALL. It was originally supposed to be just and ITS outing, but Manny just tagged along. It's a little frustrating because I came up with the idea and am doing all the planning, yet everyone is giving him credit for everything I'm doing. Ugh that's just a different vent all together.

Anyways, the guy is cheap and falls into our budget. That way we don't have to stress anyone over it.

I cannot belive this!!! How dare they not deliver my invite!!!! Btw, there are some really good wings places in doral and in miami lakes.

DH isn't too big on watching sports on tv, but take him to a game where there's beer and he's in!!  We should TOTALLY have a tailgate gtg!!  maybe go to an FIU home game where the tix are less expensive and easier to come by??  We should do it!!!
