So P!ssed!!

My wedding band is falling apart! We bought my e-ring from a local jeweler. It was grossly overpriced, but I loved it and couldn't find anything like it anywhere so we bought it anyway. I searched for months before buying my wedding band. I finally found a perfect match at Whiteflash.com that was significantly less expensive than what the local jeweler was charging. I did some research, felt confident in their policies and their company, and ordered my ring. Now, here I am, just over 2 months after my wedding, and TWO FLIPPING DIAMONDS HAVE FALLEN OUT OF MY RING!! Not one, TWO!! The problem is that since I had them saldered before the wedding, having another jeweler work on it voided the warranty from Whiteflash. They said they'd "do me a favor" and look at  the ring anyway to see if they could fix it for me (if they found that the diamonds fell out due to faulty manufacturing), but I'd have to mail them my entire set. I'm not about to put my wedding set in the mail. So now I'm stuck with a ghetto looking wedding band until I get it fixed locally. Let's just hope that I don't lose anymore diamonds!

  • Oh no! I'm so sorry. :(  Can you get a cheapie CZ set in the meantime while yours is being fixed...just so your finger doesn't feel naked and in hopes that you can prevent (god forbid) more diamonds coming out?

  • Dude, I'd be pissed too! So sorry you're having trouble with your rings, I know losing diamonds would make me ill. Crying

  • Oh heeeeeells no would I be putting my entire wedding set (including a ring that I never purchased from them) in the mail to another jeweler.  Do they think you're on crack?

Sorry you have to deal with this issue :( I think I'd be crying right now...

I'm friends with everybody in this office. We're all best friends - I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late, and start having dentist appointments that aren't dentist appointments. And that's when it is nice to let them know that you can beat them up.
  • That really sucks.. sorry you have to go through that!

The first couple days into our 2 week honeymoon I noticed that my E-Ring diamonds were really lose.. like REALLY lose. I had to not wear it at all the entire time. I was so bummed because we had obviously JUST gotten married and I was so excited to wear my rings together for the first time. It sat in a baggy in the safe the entire honeymoon :(

  • That does really suck, I'm sorry.  If you trusted them enough to buy a diamond from them, I'd send it back for them to fix.  You can just get it insured and it should be fine.  Maybe that is just me though...
  • Did I mention that the first diamond fell out the day after our wedding? Yes, I hadn't worn it for 24 hours, and 1 was already gone. Unfortunately, the diamonds are too small and there are too many of them for me to be able to check to see if any others are loose.
  • C - That sucks!  Did you have the ring resized more than 2 sizes?  I've heard that resizing diamond bands more than 2 sizes puts the diamonds at a higher risk for falling out.  That's why, when we bought my diamond band, Zales had to special make one for me in a size 4.5 (because their standard ring size is a size 7 and they said it would warp and cause diamonds to fall out to resize it that much).  I just got the 4.5 and then had it resized down to a 4.25 after that.
  • That really sucks - I wouldnt even consider sending in my rings either - especially my e-ring if I didnt buy it from them.  I've heard all kinds of horror stories about switching out good diamonds for flawed ones, etc.  Be careful!  Good luck getting it fixed.

I ordered a 5.5. I don't know if they took a larger ring and sized it down to a 5.5 or if they had a 5.5 in stock, but I definitely did not have it resized that much. When I got it, it was slightly larger than my e-ring, so I got it sized to a 5.25. I'd think that if sizing was an issue, they'd have known that and would have taken appropriate measures to ensure a quality product. I guess the more expensive version at my local jeweler was pricier for a reason. With so many diamonds, the workmanship to mount them all properly would have been a heck of a job. I'm guessing the TX jeweler didn't take enough time on it. :/

  • You have tiny fingers!

I'm sorry about your ring, I would totally not want to ship my whole set out, but like PP said, if you trusted them to buy a ring, they should be fine to fix it. Just make sure you have what your ring looks like well documented (appraisals, pics, etc) in case something happens.
