HI Ladies,
I am looking into buying a DSLR camera before my baby arrives at the end of October. I would appreciate any recommendations or advice on what to stay away from. TIA!
Re: DSLR Camera????
I have a Canon Rebel XT1i that I got at Costco (primarily for the return policy)
I had a Nikon D60 or something for a little bit.
I thought both were great cameras. Go to a camera shop and hold all the ones that you're interested in in your hands. You really need to get a good feel for them.
From my limited knowledge, the lenses are what really makes a difference.
Mr. Insomniac got rid of it. lol I think it was because the Canon had a higher image quality and because with the particular model that we got, we could videotape stuff. Neither of us has used that feature, mind you.
Ask on the Money Matters board... that's where I typically hang out and there are a lot of people that have SLR cameras there.
Honestly, I think the Nikon and Canon are pretty similar, but I don't know a whole lot.
I just made sure to buy my camera from a place that has a generous return policy (costco), that way if I didn't like it, I could return it.
Congrats in advance on the baby, MM!!!! So excited for you!
DH is currently researching to buy a DSLR, but we don't have one yet. I'd go with what insomniac said about holding them and going to a camera shop. These shops may even have workshops or tutorials to help you learn the features to your camera.
HTH and Good luck!
