Did you guys hear about this?

Did you guys hear about this? Apparently this guy slapped a toddler because she was crying too much. I know some people get annoyed by kids crying, but my goodness, that's what they do! Looks like this guy snapped!

Re: Did you guys hear about this?

  • Not judge a book by its cover but that guy looks like an a@@hole. wow I think I would have punch him the face for touching my child or stunned him with my taizzer or something.
  • Nobody BUT nobody touches my kids but my husband or I.....that guy would have been on the floor crying as much as the kid!  I can understandbeing annoyed - heck I get annoyed when my own kids act up but to touch someone else's kid - that's crossing the line!!!
When life hands you a bunch of lemons, make lemonade-call me over and I'll bring the tequila and salt!
  • ok first I want to make it clear that I believe what the guy did was wrong. Very, very, very wrong.

Now with that said. There have been so many times that I have been in a store or something and parents just don't control their kids. They let them have these giant tantrums and it aggrivates me to no end. Even if something is said to the parents, they just respond with uh they are just kids. I just want to turn around and slap the parent and tell them uh well you're just a parent so do some parenting.

I get that they are kids and you can't control every move. But seriously some kids are so misbehaved. They will literally go screaming all around the store throwing things off the shelves and just being a spoiled brat. So I can relate with the guy wanting to put that kid over my knee and giving them a good spankin. Obviously, I only play it out in my head and never in real life. lol

So I'm no one to judge. I wasn't there, so I don't know the details. Yes it was wrong, but all I'm saying is that I won't be the first to cast the first stone.

    I know what you mean.

In college I worked at Gap Kids and Baby Gap. I love children and I am the first one to jump to see what's wrong when a kid starts crying because I know that this is usually one of the main ways they tell you that something is wrong. But while I was working there, I experienced these parents that were just begging for a 15% off sign to be thrown at their heads. These kids would come in the store yelling their heads off, climbing on the shelves, and start swinging all over the posters in the window. Then, the parents would yell at me because the posters came tumbling down on their soft little heads! I had to bite my tongue from telling them that if they kept an eye on their little gorilla children then maybe hardware meant to stay on the ceiling would stay there! Ugh.

In regards to the article, it is totally out of line for anyone to touch a child that is not theirs and I would have drop kicked that guy the moment he came up to me and even threatened to do that to my child.

I think what the guy did was WAY out of line.  However, I can not STAND parents who don't pay any attentino to their children in stores.  Whether they're crying, acting up, whatever, it's your job to figure out what's wrong and fix the problem.

I once had a parent throw a rolll of wrapping paper at me when I worked at B&N b/c I told her that her child could not be smacking the rolls of wrapping paper against our displays.  She asked "do you have children???" And I said no and she said "well then you wouldn't f*king understand" and proceeded to throw it at my head.  Some parents suck.

  • I am the first to admit that I get super annoyed with bratty, out of control kids BUT I was in total shock when I heard about this story on the radio this morning.  The kid was 2 years old for goodness sake! And he didn't hit her once...he hit her four or five times! The baby was probably hungry or tired or who knows, but this was just unacceptable behavior from that man.  I would have beat the crap out of him if I were that woman...Incredible!
  • I would have sliced his nuts off. Nobody but myself, Dj and my best friends and parents would EVER have the authority to hit my kids.
  • This guy was wayyyyyyyyy out of line!  I would seriously hurt someone if they hit my child.

However, as a teacher, I can't stand when a kid behaves with me and is a completely respectful, perfect role model in school and becomes a monster when mom comes to pick them up.  I've literally seen my "little angels" throw their bookbags at their moms and demand that they be taken to McDonald's, Toys R Us, and then *** them out in front of me b/c their moms didn't do something they wanted them to do.  I usually try to stay out of it since they're not my kids.  I have rules for them, but obviously their parents have different rules.  But, sometimes, I've actually said something like, "How can you talk to your mother that way?"  or something else to call them out on their rude behavior.

But, hitting of any kind is just wrong in my book!  We don't even hit our dogs when they do something wrong.  There are other ways to discipline!

sorry to tweak the subject a bit but why do you think the kids misbehave with their parents and not with you?   Are those parents less strict that you are?  I noticed that in a few situations and I always was curious why that happens...
