Hi Girls! I just wanted to introduce myself. I will be joining my DH next weekend in Mount Pleasant. He's currently staying at his sister's in HHI. I'm really excited about moving to your lovely state. We are originally from Mass, moved to Jersey and now SC! Moving sucks but I'm trying to make the best of it

If you get a chance I could use some reccommendations!
Insurance companies? Vet for my cat/dog? Great Hair Salon? Good restaurants? Mt P area/Charleston area would be great.

You're going to love SC! We had State Farm for both home and auto insurance, and used the Ron Newman Agency on Rivers Ave. in N. Chas. Our vet was Bees Ferry in West Ashley. I go to Alena at Escape Salon & Spa in N. Chas (I even make a point to stop for a cut when I'm back in town, she's that good!
). I have lots of restaurant recs in my bio. Enjoy the south! You definitely won't miss a northern winter this year!!

Welcome! You're going to love Mt. P! We also use State Farm for home and auto - Jack Tankersley's office in Mount Pleasant. We take our dogs to Dr. Forcier at Animal Medical Center of Mount Pleasant. I get my hair done down town at Elysium Salon - Tyler has been doing it for years, she's great.
Restaurants in Mt. Pleasant that we like are Mustardseed, Boulevard Diner, Long Point Grill, Five Loaves, Bambu (sushi), Langdons
Downtown: too many to choose from!! Hank's (seafood), Fleet Landing, McCrady's, Social, Monza (pizza), Basil (thai), SNOB, Cypress

welcome! i'm new to sc too, originally from PA. lived in Philly for 6 years, but was born and raised in central PA.
we use state farm for our insurance, but that's only for renter's and auto. my husband is in finance and is licensed to do all other types of insurance along with investments, etc. (if you want his info i can send it to you)
I haven't found a vet yet, but there are a ton to choose from! we did find a great groomer on Folly road in JI- it's called Pawpurri.
Haven't had my hair done yet, but 2 recs from friends came in highly rec'd.. Piccolo in West Ashley and Stella Nova in Mt. Pleasant
Tons of fabulous restaurants down here, Chas is pretty much the culinary capital of the south. By far my favorite spot is Carolina's on Exchange, they have a fabulous menu and a great happy hour (i was actually just there last night), Tsunami also has great sushi and a fabulous happy hour.
Hopefully we can schedule a nestie G2G soon, it's next to impossible for me to meet people outside of work and I'd love a group of girls to have a night on the town with! Good luck with your move, welcome, and stay in touch!
Exciting!!! Are you moving here this week? This board is not very active - particuarly with Charleston area people - but everyone is very nice. Maybe we can try to arrange a local get together once you are able to get settled?
Vets - we take our dog to Long Point Animal Hospital and our cat to Cat's Only. Both are located in Mt. Pleasant, and I would recommened either. If we had not already started taking our cat to Cat's Only before we moved to where we live now, I would probably prefer to take her to Long Point Animal Hospital too. It's just really close to our home.
Hair Salon - I go to Stella Nova Salon at Town Centre (the big shopping center you will def notice in Mt Pleasant). Kelly cuts my hair and I can't say enough great things about her. She is also a colorist, but I have never had my hair colored.
Good Restaurants - It might be easier to list the bad ones. I will have to get back to you on this one.

Thanks so much girls! I was hoping it would be more active here but everyone that answered was super helpful and I appreciate it!!!! I'm making the drive this Saturday...10-12 hours-UGH! Wouldn't be so bad if my cat didn't hate the car and howl so damn much! Lol.
I would love to meet up with you girls. I don't have a job lined up or anything so I'm wide open! Just let me get all my clothes first
The movers gave us a window of 3-6 days to deliver.
