And thank god this is a short week!! ![]()
Mine was really nice! DH and i were in Buffalo for my work friend's wedding and her daughter's baptism party. Buffalo/Williamsville (where we actually were) is so cute! I kinda wish we stayed the whole weekend to really relax and drive around and maybe see the Falls. But we came home Sunday night so we could have a relaxing day to ourselves yesterday.
Fri night; flew to Buffalo.
Sat; 'slept in', which means 8am.
Went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast (it was right across the street from our hotel!!). Slowly started getting ready for the wedding, which was at 2pm. It was such a nice ceremony! It's been a while since i've been to a Catholic ceremony, but it wasn't as long as i remember the ones in the past to be. DH was raised Catholic, but now no one in his family goes to church, but it was neat to see that side of him, if not a bit eerie.
He knew all the things we were supposed to repeat back, he went up for the eucharist, he got 'mad' when i squeezed his bum in church...
My friend/the bride was absolutely gorgeous and her new hubby started crying as soon as he saw his 9mo old daughter being carried in by her grandma. Too cute. There was a 2hr break between the ceremony and reception, so DH and i went and got ice cream and then headed back to our hotel to relax. The reception was at 5pm and we were giving a ride to another work friend and her 'date'. We mistakenly said yes to renting a Mitsubishi Eclipse and even though it was sexy our friends barely fit in!
The reception was nice, we met and talked with a really cool couple that sat next to us, we danced, we ate and then i started getting a headache.
So we left at about 10:30pm.
Sun; again 'slept in', this time till about 8:15!
Went to Tim Horton's for breakfast and their doughnuts are super yummy! Back at the hotel i had an emotional breakdown.
That morning we watched a segment on my favorite news show, CBS Sunday News, about turning 30, which i'm doing this November. It wasn't a spectacular segment or anything, but it just put me in kind of a mood. Then at breakfast DH suddenly brought up the subject of certain friends of ours wanting or not wanting to have kids. I'd been putting off my 'baby fever' talk with him, and i certainly didn't want to have it at a doughnut shop! So we headed back to the hotel and i lost it. I finally told him about what i've been thinking/feeling/going thru and he was totally cool! Not that we're jumping on the kids bandwagon, but we're more open to it and discussing it, which is really neat! And i'm glad that i *finally* got that talk out of the way! Then we got ready, packed, checked out, headed to Toys R Us for a gift for our friend's daughter's baptism party and headed to the park that they were at (after a few wrong turns). Oh, but first we went to a brew pub and had a beer and buffalo wings! The picnic was nice, we played with the baby (with a bit of a new meaning now
) and hung out with my friend and her new hubby. I was again getting a headache though.
After the picnic we sat at a coffee place and then drove around. Then went to the airport to fly home!
Monday; slept in
. Even though i was emotionally exhausted from the day before, i still didn't sleep very late. We decided to head in to the city and walk around soho/the west village and would eat at wherever sounded good. So we ended up at Rare, a yummy burger place. And i started getting headache #3. So we headed home, took about a 2.5hr nap, headache was a bit worse, so we just chilled the rest of the night and caught up on Nip/Tuck.
Hopefully i'll have no headaches this weekend!!
Re: How was your weekend?
haha - great minds think alike! I think you get the gold star because your weekend play-by-play was much more thorough than mine!
I think its really great that you two were able to discuss the baby conversation. There is nothing wrong with either of you changing your mind from how you felt 5 years ago, 1 year ago or even yesterday about it. Its definitely important to be honest and open with each other regardless of what you ultimately decide.
Now I'm really craving buffalo wings!! great, thanks!
Hey ladies...and I almost did a how was your weekend post too! Now that would have been too much! LOL
Meggie, you grabbed his bum in church? Bwahahaha Funny!
Fri: went to the Labor Day Party - danced all night till 7am Saturday (DH didnt come, was working on house till late) - I had soo much fun BUT...
Sat: I was sore! That never happens...so it could be that I havent been really active (no dancing since we began renos OR I am just getting old!) so I did errands, painted a bit, etc. At night, DH and I took a walk around our new neighborhood admiring some houses. Then DH went to a bbq but I was too tired to go anywhere.
Sun: laundry, cooking, and relaxing...DH went to another bbq, I stayed home again! Still tired...
Mon: DH couldnt wake up (Ha!), I mowed the lawn (uh huh!!), cleaned up a bit, then finally woke up DH and we headed to the West Indian/Caribbean Parade in Brooklyn. We had a blast!! It was our first time hanging out and having fun since the house and it felt sooo good. The food was amazing, the music was good and it was nice seeing so many people from my island. However we walked the length of the parkway so now, I am very, very sore! Ouch!

my weekend:
Saturday - woke up late, went out for breakfast with the hubby, sat on our a$$es the rest of the day doing nothing.
Sunday - woke up late, sat on our butts again, went out for dinner and then looked at paint colors in Home Depot
Monday - still slept in, sat around, went over to the ILs to catch up on 2 weeks worth of laundry, then dinner (and tons of laughs) with friends.
all in all, I'd say it was a great weekend.
I had a truly wonderful weekend, I have to say!
Friday: I worked half a day and after work, treated myself to a pedicure, and ran some errands.
Saturday: I had a fabulous girls' night out to celebrate my birthday
What proved to be the real icing on my proverbial cake (because I didn't have a B-day cake), was that the boyfriend of one of my friend's was DJaying at the club we went to and he gave me several happy birthday shout-outs throughout the night! So, that was pretty cool!
Sunday: DH and I finally hit the road and took our ultimate road trip to Maine. I still can't believe it, but we each took turns and drive the five hour distance there and back. We stayed at a real charming Inn in Portland, Maine ate great food. I ate my first whole lobster with DH, while he helped dismember the thing, because I was admittedly really girly, and squirmish when trying to eat the thing whole on my plate! Although we were only there a day and a half, it was just the short getaway vacation DH and I needed. I strongly recommend the Inn At St. John in Portland, Maine for a great little romantic getaway.
So, to top it off--I'm playing hooky from work, (having called in sick), because after all that driving, there was no way I was making it in! LOL. Hope everyone has a great--short, week.
Meggie - we almost ate at Rare yesterday too! It's right around the corner from our apt. Was it good?? What did you have? I was looking over the menu and the burger toppings looked delish! (We ended up getting pizza at No. 28 around the corner instead, for no particular reason...)
Anyway, my weekend was good! Pretty low key and relaxing. We were supposed to go to a BBQ/birthday party in Southampton on Saturday but, um, we didn't really plan that well...and realized at 11 AM on Saturday that it would take 3+ hours to get out there. I didn't realize how far the hamptons are!! So we bagged it (booooo) and decided to hang around town instead.
Saturday (after that late start) we had a lazy lunch at home, went to the gym, then walked around and had some happy hour beers before cooking a chill dinner at home.
Sunday we did some errands, hung out and sunbathed in Hudson Park, and performed some kitty-sitting duties for OOT friends. Had a yummy Indian food dinner, then watched a movie with some wine at home.
Yesterday, I went running in the morning, then we had a nice pizza lunch. Then I layed on the couch for like 4 hours and watched a Ghost Hunters marathon.
Last Race: California International Marathon - December 4, 2011 - 3:29:18, 7:59 pace
Next Race: ARun for Young 5K - January 7, 2012
Yay for the Ghost Hunters marathon! I dvr'd it, but sadly I've already seen ALL of them...
My weekend was relaxing - DH was in Chicago visitng a friend so I was alone a lot, but I liked it!
Friday I worked from home. Dropped DH off at the airport and then had dance rehearsal with some friends.
Saturday I woke up early and went to Long Beach by myself. I got there early enough that I didn't have to pay! (score! saved $10!). I brought some work with me and was there for over 5 hours! Then I came home and visited a friend and her new baby (so cute!) and then had a relaxing evening by myself.
Sunday I had work to do in the AM, then I cleaned and did errands all day until the evening, when I bellydanced at one of my dance student's wedding. It was SO MUCH FUN. I was so happy to be a part of her big day, and her guests were a blast! Then I came home, walked to the local Gyro place, got myself a falafel and went home.
Monday I picked up DH from the airport, did a little shopping for work clothes, and then went to my mom's for a BBQ. A bunch of my friends came over, so it was the perfect way to end the weekend!
Wifey--That sounds like such a perfect getaway. (I love Maine.) Glad you enjoyed.
It was an easy-going weekend.
Friday, DH and I made a little canoe trip down the canal by him, ate a simple dinner outside and watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which had us both laughing aloud (and that doesn't happen often).
Saturday, We were back to LI and mostly just chilled, with an afternoon trip to Teddy Roosevelt's house and property. DH took some great shots of the Carolina Wren that nested in a flower pot by the side door, and then of a wild turkey and her adolescent "chicks" at the park.
Sunday, Friends' BBQ. Nice. But it turned into one of those events that --with no offense to any of the moms here--turned into more of a kiddie pool party than an adult BBQ to which people brought their kids. Since we were the only ones except our hosts sans little ones, we felt a little out of place.
Monday, DH drove back to NJ to work, and I comepletely self-indulged in tea and toast in bed, reading Pride and Prejudice all morning.
I made a last minute trip up to Syracuse (in part because my friend talked me into driving up). It was nice that DH was able to get Sat off with just hours notice. We went to the NYS Fair, ate lots of good, made fun of all the fair-goers, and enjoyed the sunshine.
Today was my first day back (no students) and it is a real slap into reality the next few days. It's gonna be crazy this week.
