What's going on in KC this weekend?

My DH and I are heading down to KC for the weekend and looking for ideas on what to do.  We'll get there on Friday around lunchtime and leave on Sunday afternoon.  Our only plans so far are to go shopping at Legends and eat at Oklahoma Joe's (my DH's favorite).  any ideas on where else to eat or anything fun going on this weekend?  thanks ladies!

Re: What's going on in KC this weekend?

  • Check the P&L, the plaza, there might be a T-bones game (they made it to post season).

Old Settler's Day in Olathe is happening this weekend.

    Have fun in town!

  • I think the KC RenFest has started? It's a pretty good time, but ditto Mrs. W-check out P&L!

  • thanks ladies!

I've heard good things about P&L too, so we will definitely check that out! what is Old Settler's Days exactly?  I found some info, it looks fun, like a carnival/parade with lots of food on a stick :)

  • I'm from Olathe (just south of KC on I35) so it was like the BIG thing to do in junior high and high school. The parade is Saturday morning - everyone in the city seems to attend that. It's like a state fair - booths, lots of fried food on sticks, carnival rides, a craft fair, car show, etc. Josh Gracin is performing Saturday night.

If you want something different with some local flair that's the place to go. But, you're also not 'from around these parts' so you won't run into everyone you've ever met since birth there - that's kinda what makes it fun to me.

  • Fall Fun Fest if going on in Blue Springs.
