My DH and I have been living in PeeDee region for 9 months and are taking a weekend trip to Charleston. Neither of us have been before, we are staying at the Indigo Inn in the historic district. Any suggestions on we must see or where we should eat. I need suggestions on where to go for a reasonably priced lunch, nice dinner, and a fun place for drinks later. TIA

Re: 1st visit to Charleston
Well you have to do the Market and Aquarium which should be walking distance. Also, it's how now but if you get an early carriage tour, those are really cool. Later in the day when it is hot the carriage tours are terribly smelly.
I recommend Hanks for dinner but it is upscale. Food is fabulous.
musts: horse carriage ride, walk in white point gardens (battery) & waterfront park (swing & play in fountain), shop the open air market
other fun things: ghost tour, boat ride/sailing, fort sumter, aquarium, plantation or historic house visit (middleton, magnolia)
cheap lunch: east bay deli, jim & nicks
dinner: 82 queen, fleets landing, magnolia, cypress, basil, hominy grill, boathouse
drinks: meritage (tapas & great mixed drinks, low key/easy to talk bar), blind tiger (courtyard in back), rooftop bar, king street grill (to drink, eat & watch the game)

If you'll be in the area on Saturday morning, go to the Farmer's Market in Marion Square. You can pick up breakfast like crepes, omelets, fresh fruit/veggies, bread, crafts & pottery. The actual "market" is nice to walk through but it'll break your wallet if you buy anything. Very touristy. Definitely go to the places mentioned above. You can even take a harbor tour if you like. I am not sure how much they are, though. If you get a chance, head to the beach. Folly is very laid back and relaxing. No real restaurants on the ocean. Isle of Palms is more busy than Folly. If you are into partying, go to IOP.
Great breakfast: Farmer's Market in marion square, Joseph's (meeting st.), Hominy Grill
Lunch: Jim N Nicks,
Dinner: Magnolias, High Cotton, Wasabi's, Virginia's on King, Coast seafood, Hanks, Cru Cafe.
have fun, stay hydrated, bring good walking shoes.
